A02 Upgrade Fine

Just to let every one know I had an a02 rom version and waited for the CD to upgrade my Dell and I had no problems at all. And to much of my amazement I also had 26 meg of my 32 meg rom left(I was told it would take 27 meg leaving me with 5). Ihave the basic modle and man does this puppy fly. Now don't you peopel wish that you waited for the real update insted of hacking an update that was not for you..........

Just out of curiosity, I assume since you had A02 you have an older Axim, how did you get the upgrade CD so fast? Mosty of the rest of us have to wait until sometime in October (if then)!

I just ordered my CD liek the rest of you but i have been bitching huge to DEll about the SD card problem and they said that windwos Mobile might fix this so maybe thats why they sent it early.

I dont know after I installed it I looked at my memory page and it said that i had 31. bla bla bal of total storage and the blue line was almost across the page and when i added the two numbers up i got something like 22 - 26 meg i cant rember now. Maybe it installs smaller on the 300 axim casue it knows that you only have 32 meg.

Can anyone else verify that has a Axim 300 oh much room they had or that it took after installing the update?

Uhm... just for the record - as far as anyone can tell so far - the ROM images in the 'hacked' FTP version are identical to the A05 images in the CD kit being sent out now...

So anyone who successfully upgraded by hacking got exactly what you got... As far as I can tell, most of the people who ended up with fried Axims were upgrading from A04->A05 ie: using it exactly as Dell intended for it to be used.

Besides, as I predicted a while ago - the full upgrade CD is being posted almost every other day now on UseNet, so they accomplished pretty much nothing by punishing those of us who were honest and didn't upgrade 'illegally'.

Now... if Dell would only answer their phone so I could see if the CDs are available in Canada yet...

Well what I ment was that all the people that pushed to get this new version on there Axim but it was not intended for there older axims only the newer ones with the A04 ROM and because of the diffrent chipsents in the two some people acomplished the upgrade some did not. Now the image that was released on the CD has the update for no matter what chipset you had. No hacking needed. I jsut don't know why people could not wait 1 month to get the CD its only an OS and most of them are paper waits from some of the posts I read. I just meant that I bet these people that tried to hack the OS on to there Axim had wished they had waited for 1 month untill the proper update was out weather legal or ilegal. But didn't mean to start a war was just simply thinking that they must be kicking them selfs in the pants.

I have an 02 rom on my Axim that I bought in Dec. 02. Hopefully the new cd will not make mine a huge paper weight.
