Well - my order is saying that it shipped today and I have been given an Airborne tracking number. It shows delivery for 9/19.

BTW - I also had a call from a Dell Rep who said it would be a "gift from Dell!" This is because of all the problems she went on to say.

Anyone else have this sort of kindness? I guess I was a bit worried at first - but she gave the same info as what is on the web site.

Mine also came today -- unexpectedly! I had sort of given up on it, you know, like those rebates you send off for but never quite expect to get. I haven't installed yet, though, so let's everyone cross their fingers ....

Before you install the upgrade, make a note of what programs you have installed, then gather the installers and serial numbers (usually in emails). If you're missing a serial number, some programs actually have it listed when you go to the about screen, so you can look at it before the upgrade.

package said 9/17.

It shipped from Austin,Tx on Wednesday 9/17 with "Delivery Day of FRIDAY'" on the
Airborne label (2nd Day service that
got to me in ONE day)

Well, at long last I can say that my upgrade has shipped. Sadly since I specified second day delivery, it apparently isn't due till Monday. However, just knowing it's on the way after so long is quite comforting; and frankly, a bit surrealistic :).

I ordered it on the 25th of June (the beginning of Summer) and now it is going to arrive on the 22nd of September (the beginning of Fall). If anyone would have told me that I would litterally be waiting all summer long for this thing when I was ordering it, I wouldn't have believed them.

However, after all of the frustration and delays surrounding this thing. I must say that I am still grateful that Dell chose to make it available to us, and that they followed through in the end. It's more than some other manufacturers did with PPCs more expensive than the Axim.

Now, my problem is with deciding whether to actually install this thing right away, or wait for WM2003 and the software out there to mature a bit before switching.

My Airborne tracking number reflects that it is sitting in my mailbox as we speak, but I don't show a charge on my card.

Anxious to see what works. what doesn't, and when SMC will release an updated CF WiFi driver, if ever.

Interesting that they chose Airborne. First "above and beyond expectations" decision I've ever seen them make.
