Ehien,
I would and make sure its the two cd set. They sent me the purple cd, called Dell. They're now shipping me the blue cd. Way to go Dell. Do you take the blue pill or the purple pill? oh sorry, got carried away. ha ha.

Worried just got my mobile 2003 upgrade CD from dell

Well after almost 3 months i finally got my mobile 2003 upgrade from dell. The install went pretty smooth but this is my 3rd axim since i got my in Jan. So far all is good but i do not like having to reload everything cause all my programs were on 2003 and you can not restore which blows. Hope i can find all my software.

Jer,

Thanks. Will contact Dell for it. They had seemed to ignored my order by not updating its order status for a long time. Need to find out that's the deal.

Got mine today but I never replied to the e-mail saying they would cancel the order if I didn't reply....sure hope i don't get charged for it - 'specially 'cause I left my Ax on the top of my van and drove down the interstate the other day---roadkill. Waiting for the new Axim to come out before I buy my second.

Got it...Upgraded...Can't put it down...DEFINATELY worth doing on PXA250 systems...MUCH faster...WMP MUCH beter...PIE MUCH better...CONNMGR MUCH better...Too tired for details...need sleep...will report more detail if anyone interested..

Note: ASSUME RELOADING EVERYTHING ...PPC2002 isn't compatible...but worth it...goodnight/morning whatever

Install went fairly problem-free.

I had gathered all of my add-on programs into a a set of folders on my PC, and created a text file with all serial numbers, key numbers, passwords, etc. (yeah, I did forgot a couple)

The installation instructions are pretty good, but confusing in places. The sequence of screens an prompts are not described exactly as they actually happen. I was pretty paranoid about the step that backs up the 2002 ROM -- I manually selected the backup and it executed OK. Then, when I selected the Upgrade step, it went ahead and backed up the ROM again.

I'm pleased that the upgrade process does leave you with a way to go back to 2002, but it looks like I won't have to.

Another confusion point is figuring out that you have actually upgraded to 2003. There's not that much different between versions, and a novice may not see that 2003 is running. The documentation says that you should see ROM version A00, but I see A05.

Novices will also get blindsided by the need to reinstall all add-on software. That is not even mentioned in the upgrade instructions. I probably spent more time preparing for this step than the whole upgrade actually took. Program installs are MUCH faster BTW.

My upgrade CDs were waiting at the front door last nite. The installation process was flawless.

The increased speed of the Axim is absolutely amazing. Especially on the web. I am using the Axim, Truemobile 1180 and Dell Keyboard to post this note. The long wait was worth it!!

I got one of those tape recorded calls on Thursday from Dell apologizing that they would not be sending out my update until 10/20. Yesterday - Friday - Fed Ex shows up with the "PACKAGE". Go figure. I wonder if I will be getting another one on 10/21. :D

should I be getting one?

I've read on these forums that Dell is supposed to ship a free upgrade to everyone with the A04 ROM. I've also seen a lot of people mentioning e-mails from Dell about it. My Axim came with the A04 Rom and I haven't heard a thing from Dell; I wouldn't even know there was an update without this website. Could they have missed me somehow, and should I be asking Dell about it?

I received my upgrade and the install did not work.

My unit freeze up after it starts to copy files. Call customer service and they tell me I am not alone.

Did any one have a problem with their upgrade?

Received the upgrade CD and installed on my A0 ROM (as received in December 2002). Everything went OK. All my programs run (had to resort to the little trick described somewhere here to get MS Money to install).

Before the upgrade I sync'ed all Contacts, Tasks and Appointments with Outlook 2002. After the upgrade I resync'ed. Everything got restored except for the categories. I created new categories but since I did not create them in the same order as I did when I first got the Dell Axim, the category assignments were all jumbled. Had to spend about an hour to select the right categories for each Pocket Outlook item.

Without running any kind of benchmark, the Axim is definitely faster now than it was before.

One question: how do I get rid of the Connectivity icon in the top bar. I do not have any wireless cards in my Axim.

Went from A0 rom on the Basic and A02 rom on the Advanced with no trouble on either. Flawless update.

I don't like the fact that WMP no longer responds to a tap anywhere on the screen like the other one did - any help?
