Well, I am finally seeing some of the significant performance increases people have been talking about. Using the WiFi beta drivers I posted about in another thread, Surfing is a ton faster, and PocketIE is much more responsive. Very pleased so far.

speaking of pocketIE, how do u set it up so that u can use the internet through the cradle, with pocket pc 2002 i just plugged it in and it worked, now all it says is cannot access page, for all of them, i can use avantgo, but id like to be able to use my pda through the cradle to surf the internet since that way when my siblings are on i can surf still. Thanks for all your help!!:D

Dell will send it to you for free if you got your Axim shipping with ROM A04.

Finally received my update CD! I was hoping my patience would payoff with a noticable improvement. Verdict -- worth the wait. I decided to do a clean install and reinstall the apps that I've been using - kindof a spring cleaning. It seems faster and I have it running it auto mode. My main complaint with the old OS dealt with IE and how it accessed the internet via my network. Much better now - connects with no problem.

I'm very pleased and suggest to anyone who hasn't updated yet to go with the clean install. Just make sure you have all the executables and serial numbers in a safe place, as others have suggested. If you do that, you'll be up and running in a few hours.

Isn't the clean install basically the only choice? I suppose that there have been people who tried to restore from backups their applications, but since this is a complete upgrade to the OS the only recommended way is to install all apps again. Be aware also that some apps have to be upgraded to a WM2003 compatible version (Resco Explorer, Pocket dbExplorer and I quess any other apps that deal with the WM2003 databases, since the format of these database has changed).

Johnny,
So the version that you got from the web and the one on the cd are the same version ?
2.0.0.1 for system updater and 2.0.1.1 for setup and AXIM5Invoke.dll.

Well I was about to say that I don't think they are the same. However, the file names (P25_NK_H_07170300EN.IMG) are identical, as are the file sizes (26,739,200 in Winzip). Maybe no change, but i can't be 100% certain.

This upgrade business sucks......ordered originally on 06/26/03. Got numerous recorded calls from Dell on keeping order open, to which I responded. Called at end of September and was told order would ship by Nov. 1. Got a mailed acknowledgement dated 10/03/03 that order was sent w/ 5-day delivery time. Called today, 10/21/03, was told vendor "Microsoft" couldn't supply first order and that I must reorder. Now ship date is Dec. 1, supposedly. I will never anything purchase from Dell again!!!

Boy does AEAustin story sound familiar, what a nightmare this whole upgrade thing has been. After more e-mails and mistakes on there part I'm still waiting for my upgrade. VERY VERY NICE WORK. How about hearing some other horror storys about this upgrade, it might make me feel better and stop thingking of telling Dell to stickit.
