Hey all!
I am a newbie, and this is my first post!. I just got my Dell Axim about a month ago, and I was like a little boy with a new toy; big grin on my face, tapping away on my PDA throughout the day!
Like a lot of you out there (btw, I thought I was the only one until I found out about this message board), I could not let go of my Palm Vx! After 3 years, I finally decided to convert to the PPC world, and I am so glad I did!
For the most part setting up everything was a breeze. The only source of frustration was the fact that I could not get
AvantGo to work! I had to settle for MobiPocket for the time being. Not that it's a bad program. I just felt like my PDA was missing something, without
Avantgo files downloaded onto it.
I usually resort to calling our IT representative at work to come help me out whenever I have electronics issues. This time, I decided to do the research myself and look for a Dell Axim support group. I was amazed at this site when I found it! I immediately bookmarked it so I wouldn't lose it.
I found this thread by running a search on
AvantGo. Previously feeling down on my luck because I didn't have this program working correctly on my computer, I was now excited and aroused at the fact that I now have new options to try.
At first I tried the "non-hard reset option". That didn't work! Then, reluctantly, I tried the "Hard-Reset option". Lo and Behold! It worked! I got my AvanGo pages now! Hard resetting isn't such a hard thing to do. I had most of my files on a CF card anyway. About 95% of the rest of the files were already on my computer and could easily be synced with my PDA. All other files that would need to be reloaded are all together in a special folder on my PC, organized for just such an emergency.
Thus, I find it appropriate to quote jhayter and second the motion on his praise to AirShark!
I know this is a long post, but, hey; this is my first one. Also, I am so greatful that I now have
AvantGo. I still wouldn't have it if it weren't for this message board and all you PPCers out there sharing your problems and solutions.
Thanks!
