Beta Driver

I was fortunate enough to gain access to a Beta driver for my wireless CF card. I am writing this message on my Axim - in bed.

It's a pain to get working with my routers. I got it to connect to my 802.11g Linksys, but it would not get an IP address from it.

I ended up getting it working with my IBM High Rate Wireless Gateway - using the passphrase, not the Hex key.

Planning on doing much more intensive testing over the next week or so.

Glad to see they are working on the driver.

Odd thing is it shows up in Settings->Wireless Ethernet->Network Adapters as "IEEE 802.11b Wireless Lan PC Card" which I didn't expect.

More info when I figure more out.

I have heard it said that the death penalty is not enough of a deterrent.
I think that's because it takes too long to be carried out.

Bring back cruel and unusual punishment!

Update:

The driver dll (it's apparently a Prism chipset) keeps getting asked for each time I plug in the card. Is that normal? It did it in PPC2002 as well.

I got a logon box at work when it found an 802.1x AP, but as I didn't have my ID file, nor did I know how or where to put the file, I didn't go any further.

Still unable to get a connection to my Linksys 802.11g router, but the IBM one works great and fast! Interestingly enough, WM2003 apparently looks through the list of connections and if it finds one it can use, it automatically uses it. When I got home from work, I had NO configuration whatsoever to do in order to get back online.

Oh, and pocketWINc (the free version referenced elsewhere here) works like a champ. Still doesn't help me connect to the 802.11g router (it's configured for g AND b) tho.

More as it comes.....
