Help with Ambicom CF Wifi

Ok.. so I took the plung yesterday after recieving my upgrade kit on Monday and did the upgrade. Everything went just fine except that I forgot to backup my Cash Organizer Deluxe databases (check book) and I got very nervous for about 30 minutes or so. However, Pocket BackupPlus saved me yet again! It had just done a backup early this morning as it always does unattended and I was able to just restore those databases and I was running just fine again.

So I thought that one of the good things about this new OS was the ease of use you were supposed to have with Wifi setups. Well I can't get my Ambicom CF card to work no matter what. With PPC2002 I just installed the software, plugged in the CF card and I was up and running. Not now. I think I probably need some new drivers maybe, but I don't know where to begin looking. Anyone have this card and experiencing any issues? Anyone know where to goto get the drivers? I tried a search on Ambicom but all I get are locations selling thier products.

With that aside, I haven't noticed any huge speed up of the booting of the Axim after a soft reset. It is much faster during use and in just turning on the device though.

Thanks,
-Eric

Yes, you need to install new drivers for the Ambicom with PPC2003. You can download them here.

Also make sure you don't have your Axim set to "Maximum Performance." It WILL NOT work at this setting with the current Ambicom driver.

Not only that, but Ambicom is placing the blame for this flatly at Dell's feet. This won't be fixed for some time.

On a happier note, I used the 2002 Ambicom drivers and, though the applet doesn't work with it, Maximum Performance worked fine.

Just for the heck of it, I decided to try the newly released Ambicom drivers in Maximum Performance mode. The card was no longer recognized. However instead of giving up, I entered the name of Ambicom's .dll file: PRISMNDS.DLL - hit OK and the card was recognized and functions great. Not only that, but the ability to turn wireless off now works as well (a function not available in any other mode). Try it for yourself and see if it works!

I tried entering the PRISMNDS.DLL file name as suggested and my Ambicom Model WL1100C-CF is still not recognized in max mode. Using Resco file explorer I could not even locate this file. I saw many dlls but not this one. I even used the drivers dated 9/22/03.

Well I can't get mine to connect in any mode using any drivers. I really haven't spent much time on it, but it sure seems harder than it was before...

Shrink -- did you ever have the Intersil drivers installed on your Axim? PRISMNDS.DLL is the .dll file from the Intersil installation.

I also have the ambicom with the Intersil drivers so that I can use pocket warrior. Can you tell me how you can turn off the ambicom with the Axim still on. Can't seem to find any method.
