I was phoned by Dell representitive this morning to arrange delivery of the A05 patch CD tommorow (Thursday 25 th Sept).

Im in Cambridge UK so I guess the shipping has started, anyone else?

Is this a patch for a05 upgrade i.e. a second cd after already upgrading from 2002 ? - is your machine anew model with mobile 2003 already installed? - if the first scenario - did you request patch or is it to be delivered automatically?

I bought an Axim 400 Mhz in July, it came with WM2003 ROM A04, thats the ROM with speed issues so the CD is an update to ROM A05. My understanding is that the UPGRADE CDs for 2002 to 2003 are already the A05 ROM version.

I did contact Dell support last week and was contacted back by someone from the call centre who confirmed that I would get an update but didnt know when. Then the delivery people contacted me. I was under the impression that it is automatic for all A04 purchases, but an e-mail to Dell support asking for confirmation wouldnt hurt I guess.

I have just been phoned by a Dell representative (in India), after confirming my address he has told me that I should receive the patch CD in the next 2 or 3 working days.

Let's see what next week brings !!!

Well I got the A05 update from Delll as they had informed me. The CD actually says its the 2002 to 2003 updater (guess they are using same CDs for upgrades as well as people that need patches for A04 ROM)

I backed up the A04 ROM and my data then ran the installer and restored. All went very welll, worked perfectly.

The A05 ROM makes a considerable difference to the machines speed. So far most evident with WMP finding mp3s. PIE opens faster and renders faster as well. In general use it feels much snappier.

I dont know if this is interesting to UK readers waiting for the patch but after I had made an inquiry to Dell re the long delay I got a phone call then a letter from Dell the letter details that I am being sent an upgrade kit in response to a complaint order.

Are other UK users fetting CDs. If not try an e-mail to customer support

Just got a call from the couriers Walsh Western to arrange delivery of the patch CD next Tuesday. Better late than never !!
