Seems to be affecting quite a bit of people. I wonder if Dell or Microsoft is aware of the problem?

Same problem here as with the others in the forum. I have now set the "stay connected" option on mine as advised several posts ago on page 1 and will let everyone know if this solves my problem as well.

*factory settings straight from DELL

With this many people posting they have problems, hopefully someone will find and post a solution soon. It clearly has nothing to do with whether you've checked the box to "maintain connection." Mine will drop the AS connection while in the cradle, then refuse to sync Calendar, Contacts, and others. I have to soft reboot the Ax, and go into Task Manager (Windows 2K) and stop wcescomm.exe and wcesmgr.exe, then restart ActiveSync. This all since the WM2003 'upgrade'.

Since I posted yesterday, AS has developed a new twist similar to what other posters are experiencing. Even though the Ax is sitting in the cradle, fully synced, nothing else going on - AS shuts down after about 15 minutes. It will not start up by clicking on the icon. The only solution is to reboot or use Task Manager to terminate the AS-related programs.

This stinks. I used to enjoy my Ax and easy it was to use and keep up to date. Now I practically dread syncing because I don't know what will go wrong next.

In case you are wondering, I have removed all files from my C:\Documents and Settings\***\My Documents\*** My Documents folder but AS still shows that 2 files won't sync.

In addition to the fact that when my Axim is just sitting in the cradle when it stops syncing:

When I remove it from the cradle, I find that activesync is still open in the background (expected), but when I try to close it I get the Program is Not Responding Message. Signifying to me that there is definately a software glitch somewhere.

*Note: I also can sync wirelessly on my PDA, and I have had the same problem with activesync all of a sudden losing its connection, and program not responding message when I try to close it and reopen it.

HOPE DELL AND MICROSOFT FIGURE THIS CRAP OUT!

Go to microsoft.com and go to their PDA help center. They now are hosting the new activesync 3.71 update from the 3.7 version. Now that I am updated to the new 3.71, I have not lost connection once! Problem solved for me, check it out.

Grrrrr,,,,,,

3.7.1 hasn't done squat!

Still disconnects.

What in the heck so I have installed that
could be blocking the sync?

Virus software? Don't think I've got a firewall.
Real bad Karma? Lucky me.

How do you save a file to the Dell when
you're a 'guest'? Maybe that's the answer.

I didn't ask for 2003 but I got it anyway.

Twilight Zone

After three days of not being able to sync,
I drop my AX in the cradle and it sync's right away!

blink, blink

What could make AS so twitchy?

PS Maybe telling my Dell that I was going to
replace it with a Tungsten might have got
it's act together?

Question One solutions maybe??

I have had the same problems as many in this thread... I found out that it was my mouse drivers (Logitech MX700) that conflicted with the Axim drivers for USB connections. I stiill have the same problem though i have the latest Active sync and Dell USB driver and the latest BIOS and the latest mouseware from logitech but still i loose the connection now and then... no so often now though... But i only need to uninstall the mouse usb driver and "scan for hardware changes" and the problem is solved for teh moment... i heard that Dell is coming out with a ROM update to the Axim that can solve the problem... Im just waiting.....

I am the original poster of this thread and guess what? I have an MX700 mouse as well! And I still periodically loose connection as well even after the Active Sync update! So I guess I will have to wait for the ROM update as well. However, it does not loose connection as much as it use to after I updated active sync.
