Upgraded Axim & ActiveSync looses connection
I was using ActiveSync 3.7 (although an earlier build version) with my Axim (when it was on PC2000) and had no real problems.
I just upgraded my Axim to PC2003 this week and the latest ActiveSync 3.7 release (the realease that came with my upgrade disk, build 3083) and now my Axim intermittently looses connection with my desktop computer?
I will stick my Axim in the cradle, it will sync and everything is running great. Don't do anything and after a short time ActiveSync disconnects from the Axim (Although the axim has not been touched and is still in the cradle).
I can either remove the Axim from the cradle and put it back in or soft reset it in the cradle (either one works) and it resyncs and works for a while and then repeats the process over again?
Anyone else had this problem? If so, what is the fix?
Tony

I have the same problem, the axim will sync fine but after a short period the connection is lost, the only way to get it back is to unplug the axim and insert it into the cradle again to re-establish a connection.
has anyone got any ideas on the problem??

This has happened to me as well. I resolve it with a reboot with that recessed button to the left.
After that it doesnt loose connection anymore.

ActiveSync disconnect
Hey everyone,
Check out 'mbordel's post regarding this problem. There's nothing wrong with ActiveSync, you just need to adjust the default synchronization settings. Using the Axim, tap Start, tap ActiveSync, tap Tools (bottom of screen), tap Options, tap Options again (right side of screen), select "When syncing remotely" option "Maintain connection"

Doesn't help. I'm using a USB cable. WM2003 factory installed. Have the same problem at work PC and home PC. Sometimes it will stay conncected all day, sometimes only for a few minutes.
HOWEVER the huge issue I am having is that I am NOT able to transfer large files from PC to Axim via AxtiveSync. I disconnects me in the middle EVERY SINGLE TIME. I am quite frustrated. I'm trying to copy a music video (11.5 MB)over to my CF card and CANNOT because halfway through, it disconnects me EVERY TIME.

OK, I tried this. This DID help. After it dropped, I left it connected with the USB cable, and rebooted the PPC...this time I was able to copy the large file...
Thanks, hopefully this may be the key...

That's not the solution. Mine disconnects using both a cradle and the cable. It's random. Frustrating!

Exactly what mine is doing. Sometime is stays synced all afternoon, sometimes it will only last 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 2 hours etc. All I have to do is take it out of the cradle and put it back in. Then it will repeat the randomness all over again! Surely there are others besides us experiencing the same issue?

I have had mine drop sync while it is still transferring data. That really screws it all up. I then can only get it working by deleting the partnership and establishing a new one.
This doesn’t happen all the time just a few times a week. These phantom issues are what drives me nuts!

I've had the same thing. Hell, I can't even get mine to connect now without a soft reset. Dell gets you with an impressive feature list price ratio but has definitely NOT followed though with quality.

Same problem....but, I get an error on my screen that ActiveSync has lost my USB connection...even when the Axim is not in the cradle (also happens when it is in the cradle).
All that I do is cancel it all out and replug in the Axim and all is fine, but it is an annoying little bug. Anyone have a fix to this pesky little Microsoft Activesync bug?

Add me tp the list of people having this problem. Everything worked perfect when I had 2002. Once I upgraded to 2003 it loses connection at random.
