Mad HELP!! Problems with WM2003 Upgrade!

Am I the only one that is having a problem with the WM2003 upgrade CD just sent out? I waited 3 mos to get this upgrade and now that I have it I just get hung up everytime I try to update my ROM. I was on hold for over 45 mins before I finally got a technician and then her big answer was, "try using it on a different machine." It was obviously a software issue within the setup utility. I think I'm just going to return it. The upgrade doesn't seem to be worth all this trouble!!

Be sure all programs are closed down on your computer, including anti-virus and firewall.

I brought my cradle and WM2003 cd to the office to do the upgrade there (why waste my own personal time ) and it would hang at the caution box reminding you to make sure the AC power was plugged in (or some such verbiage). The 'Continue' button was grayed out and all I could do was cancel. I tried it a couple of times until I realized that they just might have done a good job and made sure you couldn't do the upgrade unless the Axim had AC power (of course I forgot the power ord at home!).

Once I got home and tried it with power to the cradle it worked fine!

I had that problem at first. But then, when I would go to backup my ROM it would say that it completed the backup but would not allow me to press "continue." It just stayed greyed out. So, I tried it again, this time unchecking the backup option. It said that it was updating the ROM, but after it hard reset my device and after waiting an hour while it said that it was still updating, I finally quit and tried again, with the same results!

It seems to me that Dell has poor quality control on even these long awaited upgrade CD's. They sent me two sets and both did not work and hung at the same point. You won't get any help at the Dell Support site and unless you can describe exactly what you are seeing and someone on this site happens to recognize it you won't get any help here either. In my opinion A02 is just fine for what is basically an obsolete PDA. Wait a year or so then buy another one. Maybe by then prices of other manufacturers will drop and you won't even have to buy Dell.

That should teach you doing personal business on company time.
Due to the current financial restraints, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

I spent a rainy Sunday installing the upgrade. My opinion is that the install routine kinda sucks. I think I ended up backing up the old ROM three times before it when on to the actual upgrade step. But, as they say, "all's well that end's well" and so far all is well......

Mine said all is well to and just about every program I went to load on my Axim now give me problems (like Destinator and TripTracker and alot of others) so I reverted back to 2002 for now and gonna wait a couple months again before I try it again (hopefully Dell would have a fix for all the stuff out here that works with 2003 and doesn't work on Dell 2003!!

Hmmmmmm. Followed Dell's instructions to the letter (which is unusual for me - I don't usually even open the instructions) and have had absolutely no issues with the upgrade. Everything works.

Screen looks OK on mine but I did have a couple of times in 3 weeks the turn off by itself problem.

How long does this upgrade take. It has been more like 20 minutes. I now have to drive 20 minutes to go walk my dogs, and hope that by the time I get back .... maybe in the morning the darn thing will be ready to reinstall my data. Why no status bar to give you some hint that the thing is actually making progress? All I have is a twirling cursor.

My WM2003 CD would not "Autorun". I had to open it manually and then go into the directory folders to install Outlook 2002 and WM2003. Good news is that once installed, everything is running fine.

turn OFF all clear type switches. "screen settings, omegaone program bar, resco explorer2003", or any other program you may hve running clear type. they got it backwards in the registry/programing
