Mad Pocket PC 2003 calendar sucks!

Hey all

I bought my axim a week ago and I'm not satisfied at all with the calendar!

I use Outlook 2002 on my pc and Active Sync 3.7. The operating system on my Axim is Pocket PC 2003.

The problem is the following:

When I write an All Day Event , the only thing that I see in the Month-View is a little white square on the lower right corner. And this is only possible when I set the status on something else than Free. If I leave Free the calendar doesn't show me a shit, doesn't matter in what view I am. Ok, in the day view it shows me at least a little grey bar on top that nobody realizes!!!

It's all screwed up. I can't even clearly see my vacation I wrote through the Outlook 2002. Nothing is color coded, I don't see any bars that would indicate the vacation, actually I don't see ANYTHING only if I click on one of the days I see the "great" grey bar again.

Please people, I can't be the only one who got this problem. The calendar was the major reason why I bought the axim and now it's of NO use when I can't fix this problem. :rolling:

Please help me out guys, all help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Silverstorm

I came to the same conclusion about the calender that came with WM2003. So I tried Agenda Fusion and Pocket Informant and decided to purchase Pocket Informant. Its everything that that the stock calender is not. So far I have not tried color coding but I know you can do it. Hope this helps and good luck.:)

Worried

Hi SteveFe

So I'm right, the original calendar is really a piece of ***. Hey do you know if you can easily synchronize the Pocket Informant you talked about with Outlook 2002?

It's very important that I can synchronize it because I use Outlook 2002 all the time and wish to have a similar calendar on my Axim. Hope you or somebody can help me

Thanks, see ya

Pocket Informant and Agenda Fusion uses the same database as the default calendar so syncronizing with Outlook is no problem.

I suggest you try them both and decide if you will buy after some weeks of trial.

I chose Pocket Informant, but they are quite similar so it's a matter of taste which one you prefer.

Very very awesome

I just had a look at Pocket Informant's website
It looks great, and I'll try it as soon as I'm off work :crooked:

Well, I let you know how I will decide.

Thanks dude, Silverstorm

I use PI as well, and have no problems syncing at work, and have many color coded category entries for various notations (i.e. reminders are dark red, security notes are blue, etc..)

Its a great program, and Agenda Fusion works well for other folks I've heard also. I don't think you'd go wrong with either.

Pocket PC Calendar program

I too thought that the calendar programs sucked. When I looked at other calendar programs they all seemed to be missing something. Most of them had icons displayed or bars to show appointments. This program shows what the appointment is, the color of the text shows the catagory of the appointment. I've used it for 6 months and anything it doesn't have I can work around. If you are looking at demos give it a try.

Pocket Informant is the way to go...IMHO. I love the idea of saved views and Journal sync capabilities. Just my 2 cents...

Question

Speaking of being unsatisfied with the calendar - what is the best way to do a "household calendar" (forgive me for making up terms!).

Here's the scenario: my wife and I have appointments that we would both like to know about but in normal viewing each of us would only like to see appointements that pertain to viewer.

Some things apply to both of us (like I "get" to watch the kids when she is out having fun) so those items should appear on both of our calendar views.

Is there a clean way to do this using any calendar tools? Right now, I'm fudging it using categories in the default PPC2003 calendar.

I'm using the Axim and my wife is using outlook (with no server) on a laptop.

Any suggestions?

A free program you might want to try is T-Agenda... no need to go into the calendar, only to add stuff. You get to see all your appointments and tasks right on the today screen. You can even play and color code them all, tasks by importance and appointments by type.

Pretty cool and free program.

One option in PI is to use categories. You can then display the calendar by categories.

Yeah, and by the way apalsgrove, in the Pocket Informant calendar is really everything you want color coded. You may code your meetings yellow, your wife's red, and if you guys have one together, screw it to orange :D ... So you will not miss a thing!

Just another praise for the Pocket Informant 4.5.1: I got it yesterday and I'm damn amazed by the available options, views, colors, simplicity, usability.

Really, to everyone how's seeking a real calendar tool, get POCKET INFORMANT. In addition, your tasks, contacts, and notes would be also better organized!

Try it and have fun!

I called Dell for help in fixing this problem. Guess what? They DO NOT admit that they have a problem. Their idea of a fix is to send me a new Axim! I wonder if the new one will have the same problem.........

Big Smile Won't help

Well Jean T. , a new Axim is always nice... if the old one is dirty or fall on the floor once, go for it :D

... but certainly that wouldn't fix the calendar problem, they're just too lazy.

Ok, don't bother you around with the standard calendar, get another tool as written in this thread.

Have fun, Silverstorm
