Upgrading to WM2003

Ok, so I called the Dell Support number and directed my call to Axim Techinical Support and found the person directing me to another Tech support person, who then directed me to the closed office of Dell Customer Support where a recording said that I could go and e-mail the Customer Support and get a response very soon, so I proceded to e-mail the Customer Support.

So I got a response back in about an hour from the Dell Artificial Intelligence bot who told me that if I had bought my Axim after May that I could get a free upgrade to WM2003, but if not I would have to wait for more 'testing' to finish to make sure that WM2003 works fine with the older Axims. So what I was wondering is that I bought my Axim in December of 2001, so I don't qualify for the free upgrade but is it ok if I upgrade to WM2003 by either getting a Dell Rep to let me buy it or get it from the Classified section of our beloved AximUsers.com?? Or is it not safe to upgrade for fear of losing my Axim for good??

Wow! A real early adopter.

I got my Axim in February of this year. I upgraded to WM 2003 this past weekend and (knock on extruded plastic) so far, so good. The upgrade went just fine, and my Axim runs noticeably faster than it did. When Dell was offering the upgrade CDs earlier this summer they didn't put any qualifications about when you'd bought your Axim on it. I'd say go for it.
