Question about 2002 to 2003

A user sent this email and I thought I would publicly answer :
I just received my upgrade for MS 2003. I have been reading the forum section and it seems that this upgrade is full of problems. My Axim is one of the orginal ones with a ROM Version of A00 (11110200EN). Is there anything special I should do before I attempt to upgrade? The instructions that came with the CD state that if I have Pocket PC2002 which I assume I do that I need to update the device drivers for the peripherals. Can someone tell me exactly what they are talking about.

I figure if one user had this question, then other may too.

Basicly my installation was from an original unit also. I put the CD in, followed instructions and was happy with my results. Take time and read each screen as they are fairly informative.
Updating the device drivers, Many 2002 drivers, such as the Dell Truemobile CF Wifi card's drivers will not work in 2003. You will need to install the upgrade then update the drivers.

Good info, as I hope to upgrade mine this weekend!

One question though. Where do I get the 2003 drivers for the Dell 1180 CF WiFi card?

Thank you very much in posting this message. I have one of the original Axims also with a A00 ROM version. I will be upgrading mine within the next month and I appreciate the info.

I was also quite please with the upgrade process. It all worked as advertised. My WiFi driver for my Netgear MA701 CF card worked just fine once I re-installed it. All of my apps except two also worked just fine. The HP Mobile Printing had to be upgraded. No problem since HP offers it free on their web site. They have both versions, PPC2002 and PPC2003, available for download. I was also using PocketStreets2002 and it will not install after the upgrade. I get a message stating that the version is incompatible. Other apps I am using that worked just fine:

PHM RegEdit
BizBeam from Two Peaks
PocketChess from Tinyware
Mine Sweeper from China Starsoft
Flex Wallet
MS Remote Display
YanCEyWare reader
Shutdown (XP looking shutdown/restart app, forgot where I got it from)

So far I have been impressed with the additional networking support, new calculator appearance, apparent faster screen paint times, Pocket IE upgrade that now works for my online banking site, and the built-in image viewer. Bravo MS!
