Pocket IE and Outlook Web Access

I want to use my Axim to check my office e-mail when travelling. My e-mail is available on the web using MS Outlook Web Access for MS Exchange Server and I have no problem getting my mail when I use my laptop and the full version of IE. The problem with MS Outlook Web Access is that when you click on an e-mail to read it it opens in a new window - but Pocket IE does not appear to be able to do this. When you click on an e-mail nothing happens. I had this problem on my previous (stolen) Axim with WM 2002, and again with the new replacement and WM 2003. Has anyone got any experience with this?

I'm having the same problem... the sysop said that the pop3 is not open, so I can access the corporate mail only from a https page. I get this answer from the Dell Forum, as soon as I know something else, i'll post it. If you know something ele, please post it.

This isn't really a PPC issue - it's more of an Exchange issue. I've got my PPC2002 connected to my Exchange server, so I'm sure I can help, but it might be easier in email, if you don't mind.

If you reply here, I'll get email notified of the update, but if you click my profile, my address is listed there - email me and we'll work it out. :)

I posted on the Dell forums at the same time as I posted here. One person said that his e-mails opened up in the frame that the inbox is in. He thought it might be a setting in his servier and I have asked our sysop to check it out. Others who replied were having the same problem we have.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Getting webmail to work is the last hurdle before I can dump my laptop and just travel with my pocket pc.

This may be helpful - I'll try this myself in a few weeks:

MS Outlook Web Access OWA For PDA / OWA For WAP

"Now you can give your mobile workers access to their MS Exchange mailboxes from anywhere in the world that has access to the Internet, using only a simple Handheld PC or PDA (such as a PocketPC or Palm device), or even a WAP enabled mobile phone.

MS Outlook Web Access, or OWA, is an integral part of MS Exchange 2000 and an optional component of MS Exchange 5.5. It works with MS Internet Information Services and it allows you to access your MS Exchange Inbox from any Web browser connected to the Internet. This is a very useful addition to MS Exchange, but the standard MS OWA site is very graphical in content and not really suited to users of small mobile devices.

OWA For PDA and OWA For WAP are very lean in content, making them very suitable for use with handheld devices. The PDA version has also been used as a replacement for desktop OWA in low-bandwidth situations.

These products are the most cost-effective ways to deliver MS Exchange Outlook Web Access (OWA) email and mailbox functionality, including Folders, Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, Notes, Address Lists and Public Folders to mobile computing devices such as PocketPC ( Pocket PC ), Handheld PC, Palm, Zaurus Psion, Smartphone, iPAQ, Treo, Clie, SPV, WAP etc. They are a simpler and cheaper alternative to Microsoft's Mobile Information Server.

Both products are designed to co-exist with a working, standard MS OWA installation. They can be installed on the IIS server by the MS Exchange/IIS administrator. "

I am in the same situation. I found that NetFront did work, but was a little slow due to the large web pages. My preferred method is to get on our internal network (using dial up, usually) and then use an IMAP4 account in the Inbox to sync email.

It works great. I can specify which folders to sync and since the messages are kept on the Exchange server, the read/replied/deleted status is updated.

Now if I can just do the same thing with my POP3 account for home email. The problem here is I cannot find a setting that allows me to keep a copy of the email on the server.
