AS disconnects?

I am having this problem since upgrading to WM2003: AS syncs just fine, however...the connection will just go away...poof...not connected. I remove the Ax from the cradle, pop it in, and AS syncs, no problem, but wait a while and no connection. This happens on both my home pc and work pc. Anyone familiar with this issue or is it just me? Any help would be appreciated.

I think this happens to a lot of people, and not just those with WM 2003. Various folks have reported fixes that seem to work for them (e.g., move up a versioin of AS, move back, get a USB hub, sync wirelessly, ...), but as far as I know no universal fix is out there.

Hmm Thanks

Thanks, I'll keep searching around. I'm using AS 3.7.1. The thing is that there is no reason (action) that causes this. MS Knowledge base has zip about it. Again, thanks.

What programs are you running on your Ax?

I ask because I've found that unsing WISbar or ICbar causes mine to diconnect.

There's a setting in ActiveSync that says something like disconnect when finished. Make sure that is unchecked.

Did a hard reset!

I'm not running WISbar or Icbar. I couldn't find a setting in AS that said "disconnect" after synch. I do have AS set to synch "contuously." I am going to try a hard reset and see if that helps. Thanks.

it's not uncommon. No fix in sight. It is annoying, but with 3.7.1 it has been reduced in frequency (at least for me).

It seems to be good.

I did the following:
1. Hard reset of Ax
3. Deleted partnership in Active Synch
2. Unistalled Active Synch 3.7.1
3. Reinstalled 3.7.1
4. Synched up
5. Reloaded programs
It's been 4 hours without a dropped connection. This may have cured me. At the least it is much better than it was! Thanks for all the info.

I'm experiencing the same problem with ActiveSync 3.71. It is quite annoying, espeically when I'm about to upload something and it convieniently drops.

Hopefully Microsoft will release a new version of ActiveSync.

It might also help to connect the Axim directly to the USB port. eg. Not through any hubs or extension cables if you are not already.
