I have a very early Axim X5 and am still running PPC Version 3.0.11171. My ROM is A00. I can't find any info on dell.com about upgrading it. They only talk about going from PPC2002 to PPC2003. Any Help????

The latest ROM for PPC02 is A04. It's among the downloads on Dell's site and listed as: Dell Axim X5 ROM Update for Pocket PC 2002, v.05200300EN, A02. The update is in the top panel but also download and read the update instructions in the lower panel.

Yes, you already have 2002. These are just updates that improve the performance of 2002. All X5's up until mid-summer of this year shipped with 2002, now they come with 2003.

Yes, up until July, Axims came with PPC2002 installed. Since July, they've had WM2003 (either version A04, which was bad, or A05). The latest A04 on the download site we posted above is actually still PPC2002.
