Reminders bug

Hey folks - this has been posted before but no solution has yet been found. The bug involves reminders not sounding after the device has been off overnight. The device is not woken up by the first reminder of the day (provided that it has not been turned on manually in the meantime). If the device is turned on manually, the reminders all sound simultaneously.

I've reproduced this bug on an HP2215, an Axim X3 and Axim X5, all running WM2003. Has anyone figured out the cause or a solution? Thanks!

There was a lot of info in a thread on one of the other PPC boards. It combined most of the thoughts and conditions related to this issue into one thread with links. I am looking for the thread. When I find it again, I will post the link.

Anyone else?

yea its a pocketpc 2003 bug.. If you're talking about the database notify bug, There is the hotfix by scary bear software, another hotfix by somone else, and pocketplus also has the fix..

Thanks - not sure if it's related to the database bug because I am running Pocket Plus 1.3 and have the startup fix enabled. Same was true with my X5 with WM2003. For awhile, I was actually wondering whether it was related to some conflict between the inadequate manner in which WM2003 handles repeating reminders and the way that Pocket Plus handles them. Maybe i'll remove Pocket Plus and see if the problem goes away with WM2003's repeating reminder set.

... or maybe i'll just rely on my alarm clock

Spb Pocket Plus gets rid of the alarm problem. Also ATalarm is an alarm clock program that works well but doesn't get around the PIM alarm problem. Both you have to pay for!

How does Pocket Plus get rid of it? I still have the problem with the Axim not waking for reminders after being turned off overnight. Are you referring to a different problem? How do you have your reminders configured on the Axim vs. in Pocket Plus (i.e. do you have reminders enabled under sounds and notifications and leave it to Pocket Plus or do you have both enabled)?

I have not found that thread yet, but some with PocketPlus reported that turning off repeat alarms in PocketPlus helped. Apparently PocketPlus was causing a problem with a few and alarms. The point is that to PocketPlus was not helping the alarm problem but might have been making it worse on some PPCs.

I will look this weekend again for the thread.

I use pocket informant and it wasn't alarming until the unit was turned on. I, iaw, another thread was informed that Pocketplus got over the problem. I downloaded the free trial, left it with repeating alarms set and low and behold next day it worked. Sounds and notifications are also still set. Worked for me, it's free to try.

XKalibuR,

Right, that was what the thread mentioned that PocketPlus was not the cause, but might make it worse on some.

Can't fix the alarm/wake-up problem with any of the programs mentioned. It's a WM 2003 bug. See the following thread at Tekguru for more info:

http://www.tekguru.co.uk/phpBB2/view...=asc&start=180

By the way, you'll see posts from the developers of all the programs you've mentioned trying to find a work around for the OS bug.
