PPC2002 vs WM2003

Can anyone tell me the main differences between PPC2002 and WM2003? I am wondering if it is worth it to get another PPC, to have and to use in addition to my Jornada which runs PPC2002.

From what I have experienced and read from multiple sites is that its like a big service release/test bed. I think the best description was a comment from someone on this site. Its like the Windows ME of the PPC world. Fixes some breaks some and is just a hold over before their ready for the major release.

I like my WM 2003 upgrade. Programs are much faster (no question in my mind, although I haven't benchmarked), PIE especially is almost usable now, and the wifi connectivity is easier.

Can't you just upgrade your Journada?

I wouldn't buy a new PDA just for WM 2003. Wait for the next OS from Microsoft.

I disagree with this completely. ME was a mess, and to compare WM2003 to it is unfair to WM2003. Perhaps it's more like comparing Win2000 to NT 4.0 if you need a comparison.

2003 is definitely better than 2002, but, if you are going to be using your device mainly for PIM purposes, it is probably not worth it.

PIE is definitely better. WMP 9 finally has a volume control that is separate from the system volume control. The device is a wee bit faster, but for most purposes, you probably won't notice. If you use WiFi and go to different access points with different settings WM2003 is definitely better than PPC2002 was, at least with the WiFi adapter drivers that I had used.

I would just sell the Jornada and get... oh I don't know.. What? Maybe an Axim.

2003 is much better than 2002 IMO. I don't know that I would buy a second PDA though. WHat're you gonna do carry both?

I would carry around both, yes, whenever I needed them. An Axim is out of the question, I would not down-grade my Jornada to something as low as the Axim (quality, and build quality wise)

I asked about WM2003, completely neurtal of device used, then someone told me to get an Axim, and I told them why I wouldn't.

I know we're all Pocket PC folks but IMO it's uncool to bad mouth a device to which the forum is dedicated. Especially nonsense claims.

I'm sure if you google you can find Jornada users :)

I agree....bad form. WM03 is a stop gap. 2004 will have more use of .net certificates for corp. network integration. Email filters will be a requirement unless you only get a few emails per day. I usually get 500-700...mostly nonsense....that I don't need on my Ax!

04 will be geared more for "always on" remote networking with corp. access!

Whoa, bad build quality on the Axim. . .? I'm not saying its better than the rest in this category but certainly no different. And as for the Jornada, they were good for awhile but now they're ancient history. . . .

As for WM2003, I don't know if its worth the upgrade unless you're surfing the web. It may boost program speed slightly, but i dont think its anything to go nuts over. I, for one, chose not to upgrade my Ax. I am interested, however, to see what Microsoft comes out with next, as I expect a major improvement. After all, Palm is planning to completely revamp their OS when the 6-Series comes out, and I expect something similar for PPC's.

I think people should calm down a bit. aviationwiz was just got a bit too personal here.
aviationwiz, no one in these post before your post told you to get an axim. You have to read carefully before jumping up and down.

I know you deeply love, and proud of your PPC because you have had it for a year or two? But other people here also loyal to what they got and happy to have them.

Before your 2nd post, people talked about WM2002 and WM2003 no one really said anything bad about your PPC or asked you to do anything except suggested you if you could just upgrade to WM2003, because we weren't sure if HP offer any option for WM2003 upgrade.

I think you should at least apologize to the the people of this forum. Because you said things without consider other people's feelings for no reason (Jwilker only said what he would do, he didn't even say something like "if I were u ....."). I think you didn't know you have accidentally insulted the people and their prouded axim unit in this forum.
