Dell FINALLY sends me my free upgrade
Ok so after a while i semi-yelled at them in an email and within 2 hours it was on my order list with 1 day shipping and should be here within a few hours.
Anyway i have a couple questions- I know it requires a hard reset, but will all the programs i have on my sd and cf card still work? are there any huge problems with it i might not be aware with? I use it mostly for playing/listening to media, playing games, writing down notes, and just reading the stuff off journal bar.

Verify that your favorite programs work, there is a thread in the Microsoft Mobile 2003 Forum.
BACKUP ! I normally remove any "extras" when upgrading (sd & cf cards in your case) . There have been concerns with certain wireless cards not being compatible with WM2003 since you don't mention one I'll assume you don't use one. Always remember that we are all here if it falls apart.

hmmm well i took them out but when i put them in after reinstalling all the links were busted and they wernt in the menu to remove games and such so i ended up just deleting 90% of them. now i have to go and find all my reg codes and reinstalling everything.
anyway im not that impressed with 2003. the menus are just as slow for me. i do like the media players sound control though, it was annoying the way it worked in 2002. the wireless options look cool but i dont have any wireless access to use it on. i am enjoying the speed to run snes games though. havnt tried any of my other games mb they run faster. like baseball addict. should probably try that one, was choppy in 2002.

Be sure to have your Ax hooked up to the AC adapter and be very careful to follow the instructions. The update warns you that a screw up could leave your Axim inoperable and will have to be sent back to the factory.
My upgrade went pretty smoothly. You will have to reinstall any 3rd party software you have added to your Axim.

well it does sync faster ill give you that. rather then 20 or so seconds that it took before it takes like 2 now. though i only have usb 1.0 so transferring is still slow.
and i had it plugged into the cradle while upgrading (which i think youd have to), i assume thats the same as having it plugged into the ac adapter. but otherwise all the menus and such still have lag to load up all the icons and stuff like that. I like the new look of pocket mvp 2003 and the new windows media player, but pocket mvp plays fewer of my vids then it did before and just performs worse. is there some plugin or something i can get for it to play more files? im getting a decent framerate with sound on snes so im happy about that. other games i cant tell a noticeable difference. mb slightly smoother, but nothing huge. im still glad i upgraded (got it for free), but it takes a long time to get everything working properly again and i dont know if the minor upgrades are worth it. though remember i have no wireless of any kind, and from the menus i can tell thats probably a lot easier now and people say pie is better too, though i dont use that either.
