I have read some posts on this stuff but perhaps someone would be kind enought to summarize........

I have a Dell Axim 300 mhz w/ PPC 2002 and ROM A02.

I have read that there isn't much difference upgrading past A02 ROM version. Is this true? Should I be upgrading to A05?

Is it worthwhile for to upgrade my 300 mhz to WM 2003? I know it is obvious for 400 mhz Axims but how about my little guy?

First question is this. Do you have C1 stepping on your processor or B2? Reason being WM2002 misrepresents C1 stepping processors as a PXA250 when in all actuality it's a PXA255 that can run at 400MHZ.

Second question is this. Is your Ax an Advanced or Basic. If it's an advanced and not a C1 stepping processor I would recommend updating your ROM to A04 via Dell's website. If it's a Basic I would recommend updating your ROM to A03 via Dell's website. But if it's a C1 stepping processor I would recommend updating to WM2003 which has a ROM version of A05.

Opus said he had a basic model. The A03 ROM would probably be nice for you. It gets some of the bugs out. As far as ROM A05 is concerned, you need to decide if WM 2003 is for you. If the new features of 2003 are of interest to you, you can purchase the upgrade from Dell at $29 + shipping. (Unless you can find a sale on it.) A04 update of PPC 2002 is for Advanced models only.
