When in my inbox for example, there are 2 icons at the bottom the right one is obviously a send and recieve button what is the left one for it toggles on and off and seems to do a send and recieve as well.

The right one does a one time send/receive while the left one makes a permanent connection to the email server. In PPC02, this was the way to get the PPC to check mail on the schedule you have in the settings. WM03 seems to do this even if that icon is not selected so I think it may just be left over from the previous OS.
