I live in Canada and have been desperately trying to get the WM 2003 upgrade from Dell in Canada. Two orders have been cancelled by them and there is no hope on the horizon to obtain the software. The upgrade is readily available in the US but cannot be sent to me as they will only ship to the 50 States. I am therefore appealling to a kind and honest soul that lives in the US to help me with this problem. I would like to order the software and have it sent to a US address and then be forwarded to me. This I would appreciate very much. I have a paypal account and could pay with that. Can anybody help?
there are alot of us in the same boat I think. I can't even get any answers from Dell. Does anyone have any idea of how to get Dell Canada to move on this? A name to complain to maybe?
I live not too far from the border (in BC) and have a US mailbox across the line. It's only about $35-$40 a year (Cdn). Anyway, that's how I had my Dell shipped. Though I did by it off of ebay. I think Dell has issues with sending things to PO boxes. It's worth a try though.
I'm surprised and delighted to find a "neighbour" in this forum---I live in Guildford! I have taken the plunge to WM2K3 a month+ ago. Maybe I could help if you could get in touch.
Well......as an update, I just finally was able to order said WM2003 upgrade from Dell Canada. will wonders ever cease? An extra 10 bucks more however! Just prior to this, I had contacted Dell Canada and left a very detailed message with the software manager. Four days later, the software was released. Never did get a reply back from Dell though!! Exercise complete. Thanks to all that offered help.
not to be a pessimist but that is what happened to me - dell said it was on the way but they have never delivered (and they have cancelled my order 3 times so far).
Another update. According to the Dell Canada website, the upgrade FINALLY shipped on Jan 27th. I'll update again when I have it in hand. Once again, thanks to all thoses who offered help with this.
I received an invoice from Dell Canada today indicating that they shipped my free upgrade. Too bad I sold the X5 a few months ago. I'm with Howard2k on this one - they truly are a bunch of morons.
Received the upgrade this afternoon and loaded it immediately after. All went smoothly until I wanted to turn it back on after taking a coffee break. Silly thing wouldn't go on with the power button and the only way to get it running was to do a soft reset. Went and did a search on this site and lo and behold, the answer was there. Turns out you need new drivers for the Dell foldable keyboard as the original driver does weird things to WM2003. After downloading the driver from Dell's website, she works great!! Very happy with the way the connection wizard operates and impressed with the improvement to IE. Well worth the frustration. Once again, thanks to all for the offers of help.
I ordered the Windows Mobile 2003 upgrade ($49 CAN) from Dell on Monday Feb. 2 and received the package on Feb. 3. The one day turnaround was a surprise after the huge delay in offering the upgrade in Canada.
The install went smoothly and I have been able to reinstall all programs except MS Money 2002 for PPC. My X5 definitely runs faster and my Socket WLAN card was much easier to configure. I was never able to get the WEP enabled with PPC 2002 but it was a cinch to set up under WM 2003. I would recommend the ugrade for anyone having difficulties with wifi networking.

I tried searching Dell Canada's website but couldn't find a reference to the WM 2003 upgrade anywhere (not even a notice that it is available by phone). I even subscribe to Dell's update service for my Axim, Notebook computer and Dell Router but no notification about the upgrade has ever been sent to me. If it weren't for the aximsite forum, I would not have found out about it.

Any chance you got Dell Canada's product number or SKU for your upgrade? I don't want to call them and get the 'it's not available yet' line from them again.
