icbar runs off of wisbar's source code, so it would be interesting to see what would happen if we tried to apply an entirely different taskbar, running of its own source code, and see if we get the same results
does anyone know of any taskbar proggy's besides wisbar and icbar?
Mabye this is an obvious question (about how you are trying to fix icbar), but did you tap/hold on the start menu, select settings, then chose "close" from the dropdown menu? If so, are "GotoToday" and "Use Standard Graphic checked or unchecked? What happens if you uncheck them, and then choose a different graphic for the close button (like some little .bmp from one of the skins that are freely available)? Then tap on "Apply"?
Using the various selections from the drop down menu, I have replaced all of the standard bar graphics with those of my choosing.
I've been using icbar for about a month, and I really like it. No problems like those discussed here. Maybe I'm just lucky.
Thanks, David. This just might solve my problems. I'm not too acquainted with the finer workings of icbar but I should have checked them out before whining. Have you tried his suggestions, mpbasher?
I suddenly had the same problem everyone else had with icbar -- the close/exit button (on the far right of the screen) became not what I had set it as, but the big default red X that comes with the system.
However, I was able to fix it!
I went to the settings of icbar (tap and hold start menu, click on settings). Then, tap and hold on the dropdown menu to select "close." Then I tapped to select the box that says "Use Standard Graphic" and tapped on "Apply." I closed the settings window (tap in upper rh corner).
Then I repeated the process -- tap and hold start menu, click on settings, drop down menu to close. Then I deselected the "Use
Standard Graphic" box, and clicked on the box with the . . . in it to browse to the graphic I wanted to use instead. I selected the correct graphic, then tapped on "Apply." It worked! The ugly default X is gone again.
Before you do this, make sure you know where the replacement graphic is located.
Did you check in settings? I think the button that applies is the "logo" selection in the drop down menu. That's where the upper lh corner of the icbar is controlled. Is enabled checked? Is the action it is supposed to do also correctly chosen? Do you have the graphic you want selected> If so, try deselecting things, going back to "default," applying, then reselecting what you really want and applying again.
i may not be so lucky, my icbar episode ree of a book i had to read called "tuesdays with morrie" at first it was only the x button the screwed up, then the icons would stay on the bar even when closed, then i couldnt tap the bar at all, then i tried to try davids suggestino, but it says icbar setup was not found, now it is freezin the whole damn ppc... sigh, lately i have been having a lotta problems with my ax. i guess ill do a soft reset, reinstall icbar and try davids suggestion again, if that doesnt work for me i guess ill check out gigabar
ok so i tried out gigabar, very cool klaatu, and after i soft resetted the same thing happened, then i did something, i forget what and that red x button dissapeared and left me with the regular close button. i think whatever i did may have fixed it but i will have to wait until i get home to check
