Scared to Death
Okay. MS tells me I need to hard reset my Axim x5 PPC2002 in order to be able to have attachemnts on my email. They said because I don't have an sd card or cf card (of which I have both) showing in my email app for storing attachments, something has gone awry and I need to hard reset. Now the scary part.

If I need to do this should I go ahead and upgrade to WM2003, my processor is the 250 not the 255? If I don't upgrade what are the steps to restoring so I can get back to "just as I was" hopefully.

Any advice, warnings, help is appreciated.

Thanks.

If the desire to keep your data is what has been keeping you from upgrading to 2003, then I would say yes, go ahead and upgrade. I too have the PXA250 but have still noticed a significant increase in speed.

As far as getting everything "just as it was," you actually don't want to do this. If you backup everything, do a hard reset, and restore everything back... guess what? You just restored whatever problems you had, too. If I were you, I would do this:

1. Synchronize all of your databases (Contacts, Tasks, Calendar) to your desktop computer
2. Copy all of your documents and any other data (not programs) that you want to keep to a storage card or also to your desktop
3. Install the WM2003 upgrade (optional, and be sure to save your current ROM when given the option)
4. If you skipped step 3, do a hard reset
5. Synchronize with your desktop and copy all of your data back
6. Install all of your programs one by one, and after each installation, do a soft reset, then try to do attachments. This may be a long process, but you will be able to tell which (if any) of your programs is causing this problem
