Windows media player

I seem to have lost windows media player after trying to add skins from MS and use the skin chooser -which casued the whole PDA to freeze and only worked after several soft resets.

If WMP is preloaded in ROM and I've just lost the shortcut what files refer to the program and where by default are they located - I've looked all through the folders with explorer and can't find anything that might be relevant. Can I avoid a hard reset - btw have looked at the thread which refers to button mapping but none of the button keys in the registry refer to media player.

Running PPC 2003 ROM version A05 (07170300EN)

The WMP executable is player.exe in the \Windows directory.

(At least this is the case in PPC02. I think it's the same in WM03).

Hi Ike

Thanx for reply, I should have looked for the obvious! I found it - its 'wmplayer.exe' I can't think why I couldn't find it before so now I'll try a short cut ...... clicking on new shortcut causes the Axim to hang whilst the multicoloured dail just goes on turning and locks me out of everything including swith off except by a soft reset - which is the problem I had with media player before. May be its corrupt

If some setting you made is causing these problems, the easiest (maybe only) solution I'm afraid is a hard reset.

Well I was about to do a hard reset last night - I backed up all stuff firstly onto a SD card then using active sync to the pc.

I also deleted a programme uBooks reader via Active sync and tried one last time to get media player to run and bingo it started properly found its new skins in my SD card and seems back to normal.

I've had the deleted programme for some months before any problems with media player so this may be a coincidence.

I guess the player realised the game was up and it had to stop misbehaving. I'm keeping my eye on it from now on to see if it stays OK.
:D
