There is an issue with NetFront that you should be aware of; namely, the cache is not automatically refreshed. You need to hit the "circular arrows" icon to have NetFront refresh any cached pages.

I suspect that was you problem. Try it. Go to your webmail page, then send yourself a few dummy emails. Back to the webpage.

I suspect you won't see the dummy emails until you refresh the cache.

In fact I had dozens but NetFront never updated to show me any new ones. I'll buy the program if it'll work but clearly this is useless as it stands, and I haven't found FAQ's or help for the product anywhere.

Thanks KPDUTY.

Well, now I'm getting the "unable to get renderer" error. When I click on OK there I get bounced back to the sign-in page everytime. I'll try again later on the chance it's a timing thing. I sure would like to get this to work.

By the way, do you find it's a superior browser to PIE? It doesn't seem to want to open some sites that PIE will, like my banking page.

Netfront's O.K. . . . it has enhancements over PIE, but there are some of the same limitations, like the problem you are having with your bank sites. . .

Netfront's default UserAgent configuration is setup to broadcast as a PPC browser. Just with PIE, you need to hack the UserAgent to fool it into thinking it is MSIE 6.01.

With PIE, you need to hack the registry (RegKing, etc).

Netfront actually has a configuration window that let's you define multiple UserAgent configurations that can be selected as needed.

Here is my setup for MSIE 6.01 emulation:

The main problems I see with Netfront are:

(1) Doesn't handle Flash sites as good as WM2003 PIE

(2) I haven't figured out how to set the UserAgent so Netfront will play the MSN free videos. (Even with the MSIE 6.01 configuration, MSN reports an old browser).

Other than the items above, I'd say I use Netfront 60% of the time and PIE (hacked) 40% of the time.

I don't see the the second of the screens you included, but then I haven't purchased the full version yet. I'd be willing to pay for it if I could get it to "render" the company email I access through webmail but hesitate to commit until I know it'll do it.

Thanks so much for the ongoing help.

Hi Bookie & KPDUTY

KPDUTY, you are right; it is a problem with the cache; the first times that I used NetFront, I did not received refresh the e-mails but I knew that I received it, because I could check it the desktop PC.

I did:

tools > browser setting > the option cache not are marked, and then I received it, as in the deskptop pc.

I am agree with both problems that you say:

(1) Doesn't handle Flash sites as good as WM2003 PIE > I asked to Handango, but for the moment I did not received any answer. For example, with Internet Explorer a can see a map via Flash but If I use this browser I can not see the map, so I use the other browsers for these matters.

Respect to your windows (I bought the full version), I can check both, but my configuration are:

It is right?

Thanks for your support

Concerning Flash on Netfront:

Make sure you've selected Macromedia Flash in the plug-in section of the Netfront options.

As I said, while WM2003 PIE seems to handle Flash better, Netfront seems to always work (although the Flash rendering is wacky and sometimes no sound). Maybe different problems from what your seeing (See pic).

Concerning alternate UserAgent configurations:

You are showing the default settings. You need to select one of the un-named setting files and edit it as I noted in the previous thread and then name it something unique (MSIE for example).

Hi again,

yes was selected (see attachment).

Respect, to the UserAgent configuration, I will do it as your configuration, but let me to ask you:

1) what is the adventage?
2) normally what it is neccesary to use (standard or this new configuration?

Excuse me any incovenience, if the questions are stupid, but I am not an expert in this matter

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Well, y'all have allowed me to refresh the browser to get my emails. At least now I know it will work for email. Too bad about the areas that it lacks. It would be nice to have one browser that does everything well.

Does the company that publishes NetFront offer any support or have you figured things out by trial and error?

I still sometimes get the "unable to get renderer" error or http problems but I guess I'll have to buy the full version to see if it's really going to work for me. I assume I want the Pocket PC 2003 version since that's what I'm running but what about the regular 3.1 flavor vs. the JV-Lite2? Will both run but the second has more features? Are they worthwhile? Is this how you get options for the external application/plug in box?

Thanks for the continued help.

I'm getting ready to purchase NetFront (for a trip I'm taking tomorrow where I'll need wireless email access) but just want to make sure I'm getting the right version. Will both the regular version and the JV-Lite2 version work with WM2003 and are there enhancements in the JV version that make it a smarter buy than the regular?

Do you know what the enhancements to the JV2 even do?

Thanks so much for all the help. Funny how much I feel like a newbie so often.
