webmail application for PDA

Hi,

I need to visit a webmail access portal based in Microsoft Exchange; this page needs to open various windows to check the e-mail (for example one for the mailbox and when you tab on the mail, then open a second window); this is not a problem with the desktop pc, but I can not use with PDA; only I can check the tittle of the e-mail, but when I press to open the e-mail (and then it is neccesary to open the second window) not is possible (PDA not is capable to open more than one window)

Anyone knows any solution?

Thanks

There are a few 3rd party browers that support multiple windows:

Ftxpbrowser (Freeware)
NetFront (Commercial)
Thunderhawk (Commercial subscription)

There may be more ... check out the "What can I do with my Axim" thread for a great synopsis of each.

thanks!
I qm not a expert in this matter,so,let me to ask you a couple of doubts:

1) Do I need to install one of these browsers in my Pocket PC or in the administrator server (company server)

2) How I could download these browsers?

Many thanks!

Sergio, I have the same problem you have. I downloaded/installed ftxpbrowser (as well as another that I don't remember) and while both allowed me to open multiple windows, neither would allow me to navigate to the actual email and open it. I tried click-and-holding to go the the frame I want and still nothing. I posted this as a problem a couple months ago with no success but maybe with your bump someone will come to our assistance.

The NetFront browser always has worked fine for me with OWA (Outlook Web Access) servers. Their browser supports a lot more security protocols that allow access to these types of sites, as well as allowing you to open multiple windows.

To answer Sergio's question, all of the mentioned browsers install directly onto your Pocket PC just like any other software.

You can get NetFront from this link, and there is a Trial version of it available.

Actually, I was curious so tried to logon to a "generic" Exchange server that I found via Altavista.

Using the Native PIE with WM2003, I am getting a second window prompting for logon information (obviously, I can't logon because I don't have an account).

I believe the problem is more related to script handling, not multiple windowing.

Are you using WM2003 or PPC2002? I believe WM2003 had some PIE improvements in the script handling function.

Maybe if you posted what your actually trying to logon to, someone could provide more assistance:

KPDuty, you may be right. My company uses OWA, and I have been unable to access it from my Axim. Using the Native PIE, I can log in and see my emails, but I can't view them.

I tried MultiIE which did allow multiple windows, but I still couldn't view my email. That would lead me to believe that it's not the mutli windowing issue.

I'm anxious to try NetFront and see if it solves that problem.

Deftech, it looks like you had the solution. I was skeptical (almost wanting it not to work, because I knew I had done everything necessary to make it work) but sure enough, there were my emails. I had heard about NetFront before but obviously didn't know what it did or could do. I guess I can unsubscribe from aximsite now since all of my X5 problems have finally been solved. Obviously I'm kidding, but this was something that had been bothering me. Now I'll have to find something else to whine about.

Thanks again.

Oh, one more thing. It looks like you moderate the discount board. Do you know of any handango coupons I can use to purchase NetFront?

Nope, sorry they don't offer discount programs. They only offer group discounts for extremely large group purchases (i.e. large corporations).

And you'll actually be kicking yourself in the butt for not asking your question 2 days earlier, because of this. :p

First of thanks to all for your support. Thanks a lot!!

Only I have a last question:

I am not a expert with this type of devices. I downloaded NetFront and have been installed in my desktop PC; after I run the file, and seems that was installed in my Axim 5.

I am connecting to Internet and I opened the web page wit the OWA for my company; after log on, I see the e-mails, but I click on the e-mail, and it is the same of the last occasions; I can not open (read) it.

It is neccesary to do something more?; maybe it is neccesary to do more steps with the program (I can read a .txt file, but I don´t understand what it is neccesary to do).

Deftech, Bookie or anyone, could you, please send me a e-mail to sergio.ferrer@emersonenergy.com and to inform me what is the next steps that I have to do; Bookiw, what you did to install the program and to solve the problem?

Let me to take the opportunity, to say to Bookie, that I can check that you are from Ohio. Great!. I am from Spain, but in the last November I was on Ohio State (in Columbus, because the headquarter of my company (Liebert) are there). Vey nice!

I hope your quickly answer, and in this way to solve definitely my problemT

Thanks again to all for your support and help. Thanks a lot :D

Best Regards

Ah! a last point that maybe could you help you to understand if I have installed right the program (Netfront)

If I press on:

start > configuration > system > add or remove program > I can check that the program are in the list

but, If I press on:

start > programs > the program are not in the screen (there are other programs as games, Pocket MSN, Pocket Word, etc..but aren´t Netfront); this is important?

Excuse me any incovenience, but as I said before I am not a expert.

Thanks.

Regards

So were you able to get the emails to update from the first time you logged on? I needed the program while traveling and thought it was odd that I never got any work emails while I was gone for the three days. In fact I had dozens but NetFront never updated to show me any new ones. I'll buy the program if it'll work but clearly this is useless as it stands, and I haven't found FAQ's or help for the product anywhere.
