I received my Axim x30 mid last Friday and I am very pleased with it as it is my first Pocket PC handheld. The landscape is very useful for web browsing but for most applications it does not work. Even the Atari Retro SD that came free with the handheld did not work properly in landscape mode.
I really dont have any experience with Windows Mobile OS so I cannot compare it with anything. Maybe others can help out in that matter. The only application that has worked for me in landscape mode is internet explorer.
The taskbar at the top does not extend all the way to the right so a frame of the underlying window shows through. Also, sometimes the X on the right edge doesn't want to work to close a program. It was pretty confusing at first. I hardly use it for anything, but maybe that's because I' old fashioned. And clearly it's useless when the Ax is in the cradle.
i like it alot. it has some bugs to be worked out but other than that it's very nice. the aesthetic upgrades are good.
there are some bugs with old programs i have but they're just visual so far.
landscape is nice to play with but i find i don't use it. it also has some bugs associated with it. here's a tip. program a hard button to rotate the orientation (portrait to landscape and back). i have the button normally used for the voice recorder programmed for <rotate screen> (hit it once, landscape, hit it again, portrait). this is nice if you get a program that doesn't like landscape and gets all screwy and you can't get it back to portrait through the settings. you can just hit the hardware button to get it back.
WM2003SE is a very nice upgrade and will be even better when few bugs are worked out.

i like it so far, it is buggy, but as it is still very very new, that is to be expected. As soon as the kinks get worked out, all will be ok. The landscape is a little pointless, but i really like using it with an IR keyboard in word or excel...works really nice.
I HATE WM2003SE with a passion. The stupid GAPI issue caused me to return my X30 high, which I thought was a great device aside from this issue. It would be neat if Dell realized how retarded WM2003SE is and offered the X30 with WM2003 first edition.
Any of you know if they updated MSN Messenger? I use it a lot, but it leaves a bit to be desaired. (Any smily's? That'd be a cool update!) Webcam and such is probably looking for too much, but I can hope! I know there are other programs out there that do some of this, but MSN Messenger is pretty built in. (That might be the problem there!)

First of all, I am not a developer by any means. GAPI is some sort of gaphics engine or something that most games rely on for their graphics AND button presses. WM2003SE has compatibility issues with GAPI, which is why you will experience a button lag if you play certain games. This makes any device with WM2003SE useless for those who see gamming as a significant part of their PDA use.
