Email button problem on X5 w/ WM2003
Ever since upgrading my Axim X5 Basic to WM2003 from PPC2002 I've had problems with the Email/Inbox hardware button.
Generally, if the Inbox isn't already loaded/running and I press the Email button on the X5, it doesn't bring up my inbox. It brings up the bottom task bar/menu bar, and it says "Inbox" at the top of the screen, but none of the messages show up. It still displays whatever was on the screen before in the middle -- my Today screen, for instance. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I've done hard resets to no avail, and I've even since received a replacement X5 (refurbished) that came with WM2003 -- and it has the exact same problem. ...and I never had this issue with PPC2002. Any ideas? --Ken

Also note that this problem occurred on the new Axim even before I'd installed any programs. Happens right out of the box. The very first thing I did after turning it on and going through the initial setup was to push the email button, and it didn't start properly.
It doesn't happen every single time though. Occasionally it works and it brings up the email screen. I don't get it. ...and why hasn't Dell fixed this yet?! It's a pretty obvious problem. --Ken

Insomnia is the Axim user's best friend. I apologize for copying and pasting this message in several threads, but I found a solution, and hope everyone suffering from this annoying hardware button bug will be able to use it.
Using Resco Explorer go to Windows/AppButtons. Tap and hold over Inbox, and choose Properties. Go to the Shortcut tab on the bottom. Replace the entry :MSINBOX in the line in the middle with "\Windows\tmail.exe" (include the quotation marks). Tap OK. Problem solved. It seems like Microsoft (or Dell, or both) screwed up the default Inbox software shortcut; this fix points the shortcut directly to the Inbox program, rather than using the default reference. I guess it should work if you point it at any other mail client you are using. Let me know if it helped! Ron
