Installation issues
I bought the WM2003 upgrade from Dell and received it yesterday. I followed all the directions to the letter to upgrade and this is what happens: I select to backup my rom and it does but when the message box pops with ok, the ok is grayed out. It says I have completed the backup successfully but it won't let me click ok to continue. If I bypass the backup and just do the upgrade it says the upgrade is in progress but all it does to my Axim is like a hard reset. I left it on for 12 hours yesterday and it didn't do anything. I have an Axim x5 400 mhz rom ver:002.
I'm baffled, I hope someone can help me,
Thanks,
Jinx

Did you hard reset your Axim and Delete the partnership in ActiveSync before getting started? Also, connect as "guest" when you connect after hard resetting and deleting your partnerships.

Thanks Wooch, for your quick response. Here is what I did. A hard reset and deleted all partnerships, I connected with a guest partnership and backed up the rom and got the same response from the program as before. I then bypassed backing up the rom and went to the upgrade and see the attached screenshot, that is what it looks like the whole time and all it does it hard reset my axim and then it just does nothing.

This is what it does after I backup the rom, see the greyed out ok button, it stays like that no matter how long I wait. The program is not frozen or anything it just greys out the button.

OK, so you're now at the point where you've been able to backup your ROM, but you still can't update it?

The rom would always backup, it just would not let me continue on to the update.

Do you have Norton Antivirus running on your PC?

I've shutdown everything, all the programs running in the background included, I dunno, but this is very frustrating.

You shut them down, but did you disable the Norton Antivirus System Process? There's a difference between shutting down an app and terminating a process.

Oh sorry, I didn't even answer your question, I don't use Norton, but the av and firewall software I use is shut down and disabled.

OK, have you tried setting the firewall so that it does not start with Windows? I've found with my firewall that just having it installed can cause problems. It's worth a shot, you've covered most of your bases.

Ok, I restarted without all of my usal programs starting including the fw and av and I get the same result. Thanks for the help Wooch, I appreciate it, I guess i'll have to go without it because i'm tired of messing with it. I can't believe that no one else has had this problem, but i've looked around the forums and haven't seen anything.
Thanks again,
Jinx
