Removing a Locked File

I am having an issue with a language pack that I just installed. I installed a Japanese font on my Axim from this site: http://www.declan-software.com/chine...ingliu_ppc.htm
Now I cannot uninstall the font and when I try and manually remove it, it keeps telling me that “Cannot delete file ‘mingliu.ttf’. The process cannot access the file because another process had locked a portion of the file.”

Anyone have any idea how I can remove this file? It is about 6MB so I really want to get rid of it.

Try doing a soft reset first then sync and use add/remove programs in activesync to delete it. Soft-resetting closes all of your programs but If you have a Today plug-in that was using that font you want to uncheck that also on the Start > Settings > Today > Items tab before the soft-reset.

Still no luck. It still says it is locked.

Well, I had to hard reset it. I guess that fixed it.

I had the same problem with a different font. Solution is straight forward: reinstall the app and then immediately uninstall it before you use it.

fonts either directly installed to the windows/fonts folder or indirectly via 3rd party software remain in memory; hence file is in use or "locked and cannot be deleted". I have been experimenting with fonts and have to hard reset to clear font files. Once in windows/fonts directory, something locks them. Soft reset will not delete. Only option is hard reset.. :(
