No ActiveSync with BT using WIDCOMM

Hi,

I have a little problem using my new X30Hi & ActiveSync via Bluetooth.
I am using a class 1 Bluetooth adapter using the Widcomm implementation.
Being German I have an Axim with German WM2003SE, so I try to translate the titles of the menus to English as well as I can.
So first things first:

I figured out that the standard bluetooth settings of the Axim
(Start->Settings->Connections->Tasks->Serial Connection-> Advanced) are COM8 for incoming and COM7 for outgoing.

As I am using an Acer Bluetooth Dongle (BT-700) with Widcomm implementation I set the serial Bluetooth conncetion to COM8 on my PC.

Already having syncronized my Axim via USB I simply changed the connection setting to COM8 on my desktop computer.
Moreover I enabled sync. via COM.

Finally I opened the Bluetooth logo on my today's screen of my Axim ("Bluetooth Manager->ActiveSync via BT").
The axim also recognizes my desktop computer...BUT as syncronizing starts my Axim display "Connection failed".
Where's the mistake?
Thanks for help.
I hope my explanations could be understood :) and my English wasn't that bad!

Thanks,
Willy

On the Axim did you do a discovery of available services on the PC first?

Did you require authentiction at any stage? On my PC I get a little pop-up from the system tray where it authenticates and a message pops up on my Ipaq. If I don't authenticate correctly I will get a failed connection.

One question to answer is how close are you to the PC. Is the envoronment free of static/magnetic interferences? Do you use one or many wireless phone in your environment (some cheap phones interfere)?

I am experiencing similar problems.
I have an Axim X30 and a Laptop with Windows XP SP2 and use Belkin Bluetooth class 1 adaptor.
I managed to make the connection and use active sync .... until I updated my PDA with Windows mobile 2003 SE.

Since then I am unable to even make a bluetooth connection between the PDA and the portable ... THe portable sees the X30 but when trying to connect the passkey exchange isn't succefull. When I try to find the PC on the PDA ... it doesn't find the PC at all
