You have not given any good argument why it would take longer.

As I said, how could you possible complile a working copy of WM 2003 without all the drives. Sure the MediaQ divers will help, but you still need the others to get a working device. I'm not sure how this makes creating an OS a quick exercise. :crooked:
What others? Name one. Just one. What is so unique about an Axim that is not found in any other PPC and it needs a separate driver that is not provided by the component manufacturer? The MediaQ 1132 controls the graphics, the touch screen, the audio, the power management, the serial and USB interfaces, the SD and CF cards. What else do you need?
Remember all you kiddies listening in on this station that this debate(?) is discussing the merits of the installation of an OS upgrade that provides essentially no substantial enhancements from its predecessor. (B.T.W, landscape mode on the X5 looks like shi.. er terrible and gives me a headache (funny sheen)
Dude, you're fired...check out my PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE...this was taken on a .00000002^-10 megapixel camera.
Anyways if you folks are so gung-ho about makin this OS then have at it...ill pay to have SE on my X3i. I dont think theres anything morally wrong about this...I'd violate any license agreement b/c Dell has screwed us over like this.

Lets all remember back to the wm2003 fiasco on the X5 wasnt it the dell driver that controled the os writing a reading to the memory was the problem. so i dont think it is a half day job, it certianly took longer than half a day to fix the problem
hey what happened to the os development debate?? :P
i forgot where i read this article on some guy developing linux for pda's from scratch - he reverse engineered the hardware to see what the input / outputs - but i think he's stuck half way cuz of lack of hardware documentation..
not to mention this was on a Dell axim x5 pda.. i'll look it up in my surfing history and see if i can post the url
Screw paying for an SE upgrade! I'd pay just to see CageyJames and AS77 go at it in a ring!
As for tweaking the Toshiba SE OS: I'd like to see it done. I know, I know... yeah, yeah... spare me the lecture... I'd like to do it just to send it, anonomously, to Dell and say "Look, it can be done so stop holding out on your customers, you greedy b@stards!"
