Best Programs Overall?

I am sure this has been asked millions of times.
I am a complete newbie to pocket pc's and want to know what are the absolute must have programs that make the os workable? I find Windows CE to be highly bland.
I am big on task managing, and calendar stuff. I want to get better planning in my life.
I also like to play, and like cool utilities.
Any tips?
how about http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/prod...index2.html?en

Thanks

A good file explorer is essential. Resco Explorer 2003 is probably the best but has become rather expensive. Total Commander is also good and FREE. Advanced Explorer is very good and is the only one to have a recycle bin - it costs $2.00 !

Also, recommend Pocket Informant as PIM

as a newbie, you will want to get access to your pocket settings many times, then I would recommend HandyMenu.

and of course MemMaid is an excellent cleaner/memory management for you.
They are both from DinarSoft.

and to backup ur data, which I guess u might have a lot
Get Sprite Backup, it is wonderful backup system.

Well.. I have done a lot of trial and error the last few days and not spending money was a top priority. I have the following so far:

1) spb pocket plus. This is a great program. It also enhances IE just enough to make it useful (full screen in lanscape, multiple windows). Unfortunately none of the other browser options support landscape properly (yet). It includes a decent file explorer. The battery indicator is fantastic. I paid $15 but well worth it.

2) Masterworks Money. This is now packaged with the IPAQ, and is being sold for a dollar with a dollar off (so free) on Handango. I use this for my finances now since I dont have and dont wish to have a desktop financial program like money or quicken. It supports all the features I need to keep track of my balances which I will admit are pretty simplistic.

3) ADB Idea Library. THis is a freeware program I found via this article

http://www.marcusvorwaller.com/weblo...es/000130.html

That I am using to keep track of tasks and notes for the different web sites I work on. Its more suitable then the built in task manager (I use that for my "honey do" stuff). Each web site that is one of my clients is listed as a category, and I hang notes, "todos", and such off of it.

I dont know how it compares to the "pro" packages, but it is free.

4) Some utilities: PocketLCD (let me test for dead pixels and turn my pda into an emergency light source), the Aximsite Wifi hack to enable/disable wifi only, and the adobe reader (kinda yucky).

5) 50 billion game demos. Which to buy? *shrug* until I stop playing jawbreaker I see no need to spend money yet :).

I want to eventually try and buy textmaker by softmaker, but dont have a need and money is tight. Its supposed to be the best word processor. I havent experimented with music yet, but will work through those apps when I get myself some lightweight headphones this weekend.

HTH, just what I have done the last few days since I got my Axim.

Regards,

Artuk

Have to agree with the Pocket Plus. Bought the full version and never regretted it. As for games, the one I would reccomend is Everquest for the PPC. Its a neat RPG that will keep you occupied for hours :)

POcket Informant: ggod app, but expensive, and you only get free upgrades in that same build number, and only 2 a new build number unless it has been less than 6 months since you bought it, which means you will buy it several tymes if you want to stay up to date...

MemMaid: Search the forums, you will see that memmaid can cause alot of problems, and lead to hard resets (did for me) Make up your own mind on paying for something that may really screw you up.

Pocket Breeze is an extension of your PIM. I use and it is by far my most used Today Plug in. It offers near unlimited flexiblity and offers alot of cool skins. Try it out www.sbsh.net Here is how they play together :)

I would recommend Age of Empires - I have been addicted to this game for a while now...

- Pocket Informant (I think the 50% discount is still around)
- Pocket Breeze (Not sure of the current Aximsite discount - but I am sure there is one).

Together these programmes are just great - completely manage your life and let you see it all in a few clicks.

- eWallet (or similar) - Aximsite discount available
- a better media player than WMP (the're are MANY! - and some of the better ones are FREE!)
