The O/S on a PDA comes loaded on the rom. You would need to get a rom update from the manufacture.

Nowhere, at least not legally. Upgrading to WM2003 is now illegal, thanks to Dell. Don't you just love that company?

Because Dell doesn't sell it any longer and virtually all other ways of obtaining it are illegal.

Why would Dell no longer allow its customers to use it or purchase it.

They discontinued the upgrade on Apr 31st of this year. Not sure why, but they claim that they made it very clear to users that the upgrade would only be availible until that date.

Maybe it's a fight between Dell and HP. Who can annoy their customers the most?? I still say HP has the upper hand, but we'll see.

So if you have an unused upgrade CD and you upgrade or give it to a friend to upgrade, is it considered illegal. (hypothetical situation).

I don't think a lot of people have unused upgrade CDs laying around in their drawers...

Yeah right... for the small minority of users who happened to read the appropriate section of the Dell community forums at that time. And what about the unlucky rest?
