can someone recommend a good gps software that actually tells you to turn and stuff??

Can't really fault TomTom Navigator.

It's very easy to use with large onscreen buttons to control it so you can just tap the screen with your finger. The spoken instructions are about the best you can get. If you take a wrong turn it recalculates the route on-the-fly, and you can tell it the road ahead is blocked and it will recalculate the route.

Do a search on TomTom and check out their website for a full list of features
