Question about assigning an app to a button

I have an application that I loaded onto my Axim X3, which I would like to activate with one of the hardware buttons. When I go into Settings > Buttons, select a button and scroll through the button assignment pop-up, this particular application never shows up. Any ideas?

I'm not sure where the button control gets its information. It might be from the registry's list of installed apps. Is the program you loaded an installed app, or is it a direct .exe file you transferred over ?

The button app may also look in the /Windows/Start Menu/* directory, so maybe a program link in there might be required ?

/Windows/Start Menu/* was the answer. Thanks for the tip.

Yes, Vito ButtonMapper is an excellent app to extend the use of the buttons.
