Powers Off while transferring file via IrDA
I have transferred a few files via IrDA from a Laptop to the X30h (WM2003SE); for small files, it works really well.

However, if I transfer a large file or a lot of smaller files, I have to disable the auto-power off on the Axim.

If the unit powers off in the middle of a file transfer, then I have to do a soft-reset to get the IrDA working again.

Has anyone else experienced this? Are there any other work-arounds (besides tapping the screen every couple minutes, or disabling the auto-power off)?

samething happened for me while i was trying to install my GPS software and I selected like 10 states for downloading maps. After 3 min of downloading data i was getting an error message saying that "There is no enough space on the disk" but actually my SD card is still having around 100MB. I did the same and downloaded state by state instead of all at once :-(

Get Scott Seligman's KeepAlive, a tiny free app which simulates keyboard activity behind the scenes to temporarily disable power-off. A Start Menu shortcut makes it easily accessible when needed, or map a button, or whatever. It's worked on every PPC I've used.

For faster infrared transfers I recommend using TotalCommanderCE, which implements OBEX far better than does Resco Explorer. My transfers from PPC to PPC or PC are about 5 times faster with this. On the PC side I just use QuickBeam, set to auto-receive. No Activesync needed that way. Apparently with 2000 or XP it's not needed, but as I've only 98SE QuickBeam is the best infrared solution.

This is great stuff, thanks for the info Gerard!! Also, I didn't know the TC was faster for infrared transfers. I'm going to have to check this out as well. You learn something new every day, thanks again!

I second that! I have not yet installed TC, but it looks interesting.

Of course, the main reason I posted about this problem was to see if it was consistent between Axims and ROM versions.... and hopefully it can get on the bug list... and eventually be fixed.

It is funny how IrDA doesn't keep the machine awake, but playing music with WMP does We can see that the priority is on entertainment... who really cares about reliable connectivity.
