I recently purchased an Axim x30 624Mhz.

When I requested to have ActiveSync installed on my computer at work, the IT department refused to let me install it saying that there were too many security concerns with Pocket PCs (viruses, etc.) I should have just installed it without asking but I don't want to get fired either.

Has anyone else had similar difficulties? Is there anything that I can do to convince my IT guys to let me use ActiveSync (or any other sync program)? Is there any software or hardware that could make the process more secure? If I can't convince them, is there an easy workaround for my problem?
