WMP10; Why So God Awful BAD!

As far as I can tell, trying to use WMP10 is impossibly difficult. If file extensions are not associated with WMP, it doesn't even want to show them, so that you can play them. It's god awful rediculous.

I used to use WMP occasionally, when wanted, as an alternative to programs such as GSPlayer, Betaplayer, etc., But now, forget it. It's like they are saying, use me, or NOTHING.

Anybody else see it like I do? Or is there some stupid hidden options that give flexibility back to WMP.

How did you set it up? I also gave up on it as it was more difficult to use and configured than the previous version. I use GSPlayer now and it is better as you can turn off the screen to save battery if needed.
If you get dead silence after breaking the speed of sound, would you be in the darkness after passing the speed of light?

@ Frenchy- Just so you know, WMP9 was always able to turn off the screen. You could assign "Screen Toggle" to any hardware button and turn off the screen that way.

@ LittleRichie29- WMP9 was always able to stream video. I do it all the time with my X3i. I stream directly from the internet and I also stream directly from my laptop. My question to you is: is it EASIER to stream with WMP10 and does WMP10 support more file types than the previous version? Thanks.

Mad

WMP10 is absolutely horrible. I can't believe I reinstalled everything manually for this crap.

- Some of my ASFs now just don't play.
- Streaming?? You can stream w/ everything else at this point.
- Slow, sluggish performance.

Syncing from PC to PPC is a big thing they added. I tried it just to evaluate. It's slow, confusing and not worth it. I load the music I want, when I want, to my storage card directly now. It's faster and more strait forward just to use a card reader.

Question, it appears that WMP10 also cannot play AVI and other movie formats, or is it just that it can't see them?

Axim x30 High ~ durable enough to survive a car wreck but the sync pins got messed up

Hmm... I am having the following problems with the Button options of WMP10:

1. Whenever I try to set a hardware button on anything (I am trying to do that for toggling the screen) the hardware button assigned application opens instead of assigning the key.

2. If I try to set a long press for a button (e.g. Hold Down for mute, Hold up for screen toggle) pressing and holding does work, but when I stop pressing the mute or screen off doesn't stick.

3. The default button for Mute is # and for full screen is *. How the heck am I supposed to press them? I don't have access to a keyboard or the virtual keyboard (the keyboard icon is not there in WMP in play mode).

Please help, I really want that screen toggle to work.

Thanks,
Amnon

Although I don't share the disapointment with WMplayer 10 that some of you described I have had issues with power (button) ever since I installed this.

Symptoms in short
Upgraded as clean as I could, old rom without data or additional programs or external hardware, without any issues.
When upgrade completed I was not able to re-power the unit after the unit was power off by use of powerbuton or through its power saving turn off. Power button just does not respond.
The only way I can get the unit back up is by removing the battery, reinstalling the bat. and then powering it up again.

Dell support (as usual) has been useless.

regards Bart

I updated my X30 and got WMP10 installed and then did a "restore" that is when WMP10 stoped working you have to just re-install what you want the resore seemed to screw mine up!

It seems like DRM is broken as well.

Every time I try playing a DRM protected song (which I have a license for unlimited transfers to portable devices), it tells me the license is corrupt.

Toggle screen

The center (big) button in the middle of the row of buttons can be assigned to turn off the screen in MP10.
