Schedule/events deployment
hi everyone,

how do I create a master list of schedules/events which users can download and integrate into their PDA's calendar? Our racing club has about 50 events per year and it would be nice to have these events showing on their calendar instead of one big excel file.

TIA!!!!

I thought I replied to this yesterday

As long as the users are using Oulook on their desktops then this is fairly simple to do - all references are to Desktop Outlook.

1) Create a new Category in Outlook - something that none of the users are currently using - eg) RacingClubEvent
2) Enter all the meetings in your Outlook - and assign the create category to them all
3) In Outlook go to File>Import & Export>
4) Choose "Export to a file" then NEXT
5) Choose "Personal Folder file (.pst)" then NEXT- you can probably use other file formats - but I always use .pst
6) Make sure Calendar is highlighted and then choose "FILTER"
7) Choose the "More Choices Tab"
8) Click on "Categories" and then choose the category you created above
9) Click on okay - then next
10) Choose a destination and file name
11) and then "Finish" and then okay

This will then create a NAME.pst file - which should only include any appointments that you created with the category you chose.

This can be mailed to members with the following instructions:

1) Save NAME.pst file to your hard disk
2) In Outlook go to File>Import & Export
3) Choose "Import from another program or file" then click "Next"
4) From the list scroll down and choose - "Personal Folder file (.pst)" and click next
5) Then "Browse" to where you saved the NAME.pst file
6) Click "Next" and "Finish"

This will then add all the appointments into their Calendars - which will be syc'd to their PDA's the next time they syncronise

Hope this helps.

Excellent suggestion, should have thought of that!

however, i'm looking for something more cross-platform, program/script that works for Outlook as well as Palm Desktop

I believe that both Outlook and Palm desktop can import .csv files (as should all other clendar programmes) - so export in that file format.
