Day-of-the-Week on Today Screen (Regional Settings)

As well as DD, MMMM, YYYY showing on the Today screen, I would also like the Name of the Day shown.

The only way I can get this is by using English(U.S.) in Regional Settings. "Tuesday, 30 November, 2004"

English(Canada) & English(U.K.) give only "30 November, 2004".

Is there a reason for this (other than the standard "It's a Feature, not a Bug" response.

Also, having committed to one of those three choices, there is no way to switch between Standard (Imperial) and Metric measurements.

(Hey, we may be officially Metric in Canada, but I am an old fart and still think inches, feet, and furlongs. OK, maybe not so much furlongs).

Imperial too Please

May I assure you that you are neither aged nor noxious. Imperial units are far superior to the absurd metric replacements. Here in Blighty you can ask someone born years after the UK went metric how tall they are or how far to London and the answer will always be in feet inches or miles. I too think in feet and inches- my foot is a foot long, and I'm six feet tall. I can measure anything using either a foot or a fraser. And I'd like a pound of Steak, not 454 grams. If the Americans can get to the moon using feet and inches it should be good enough for anybody.
I would hope that there is some sort of registry key where this can be specified. I will seek, but maybe someone else has already found?

You can override the Regional Date Settings by editing the registry.

The key is \HKLM\nls\overrides\SLDte. Edit the string value to have the long date displayed as you like. For example to show the date as 2005 Tuesday, May 10, you would enter yyyy dddd, MMMM dd.

You must soft-reset to have the changes take effect!

I tried that and it did'nt work, so I changed it back. I just went to try it again and the strings don't even show up now [:S]

I just tried it and it works for me. It took me a couple of attempts though as it's case sensitive.
I added a new String Value to hklm/nls/overrides with the name SLDte and the value
dddd dd MMMM yyyy
and my Today screen now shows
Wednesday 25 May 2005

Well, I obviously haven't been back in here for awhile. Anyway, thanks DoDoubleGEO. I installed freebie "PHM RegEdit" mentioned elsewhere in Axim forums, edited the appropriate entries, and it worked like a charm, 1st time (after the soft reset).

Incidentally, the install of PHMRegEdit did not work for me via ActiveSync. I ended up copying the ARM .cab file to my X30 and installing from there. Works great tho' ... and the price is right.

Yes I soft reset after, I tried several attempts, I think it was after about the 3rd go the string then disappeared along with a few others[:S]

I've just had another go and recreated the string and used the info you posted, and it has now worked this time! []

Thankyou.
