You can upgrade to PPC2003 on the X5. I did it, successfully I might add. I'm glad I did. I like the 'zero' configuration part of it. Ii didn't take as much time as I thought.

Right - technically it can be done. But Dell are no longer offering the CD for sale.

If Dell no longer has the CD on their site, try calling them. maybe you can finagle a copy out of them.

I also updated to WM2003 and I'm sorry I did. It is very buggy; WM2002 is far more stable. Why do you think Microsoft rushed out a SE (2nd edition) of it?

WM2003 SE is not available for the X5, so save yourself some heartache and stick with WM2002

Dell did put out ppc2003. i was able to install it and haven't had any problems. I mean the zero configuration feature is great. I have found it to be stable, as stable as any other window product that is.

Well, I found the zero configuration feature totally confusing and useless...

You can go back to PPC2002. See http://tom61.arcadecontrols.com/axim_bootloader.html

I did the same thing and I don't miss WM2003 at all.

also...the axim found my home network without trouble.

I wasn't so lucky... I had serious problems configuring it and I still don't understand what the rather nonstandard terminology in the settings (like "Work", "Internet" and stuff like that) means. Luckily, there are third-party configuration utilities that do a lot better job. Like the free version of PocketWiNc.
