I previously posted this in the X50 General forum (without any replies), but this is probably a more proper place...
Short version: Pocket IE only allows me to view offline content on my Axim once, then is unavailable. Longer version: I've setup a webpage as a PPC favorite, available for offline browsing, an online bbs, 2 links deep. I've synchronized the page, and content is downloaded. The content synchronizes through ActiveSync. I can pull up the first page of the site through Favorites, then click on a link to one of the discussion threads (this is a bbs), which displays. However, when I hit the 'back' button to return to the first page, PIE attempts to make a 'real' online internet connection (but can't because it's offline) and gives me the standard 'connection not available' message. Going back to Favorites then shows the page as greyed out??? It appears that after syncronization thorugh AS, the offline content is available through IE favorites, but you cannot use the back button, and after shutting down IE, the content then shows greyed out in Favorites. I've also viewd through ftxBrowser, which allows me to view each of the links in a new browser tab. But again, after I shut ftxBrowser down, the content then shows as greyed out in IE meaning it's not available for offline browsing. From all appearances, IE seems to be treating the offline content as a one time, one way application?? I'd really like to get this figured out as IE offline content gives me everything i need (if it works as advertised), specifically the window shrinking ability of IE to squish everything onto the width of the PDA page. I've got the offline content to work in AvantGo, but the webpage doesn't fit in the browser window and requires horizontal scrolling, not to mention the 2mb data limitation. Please help. Thanks. Try this website as an example.
I use this website: http://www.cs.purdue.edu/homes/hoski...ation.htm#play
It has the rules for cricket (Popular in Australia) It works fine on my Axim X5 advanced including going backwards and forward though the pages. You can also get the offline content by going through Avantgo. There latest software seems to do the job a lot better then what they ever had. Cheers

I had same problem on X3, but it is now fixed!!
I'm new to this site, but I think I have a solution.
I had the same problem as described above with a few other issues. I noticed a problem with syncing my favorites. It went from working one day to having up to 80 some unresolved items in Favorites the next day. I think I downloaded and used "Memmaid" to clear out the cache - not sure if this is the source of the problem, but it seems like it could have been. When I would get an error message while trying to resolve the items, it said that there was not enough room on the device. No way was this possible, but I started to think that the cache size was accidentally set too small. Anyway, the content that did get downloaded would only be available once and then be greyed out on the favorites listing. Most of the time, when I would load the offline page, it would complain that I was not connected. I came to find out that there is a setting in PIE that deletes the content after it is viewed once - great feature! Anyway, as far as I can tell, the only way to fix this is to edit the registry. I downloaded a free trial of Kilmist Registry editor, and edited this registry line: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\InternetSettings\5.0\Cache\Content I found that the line that says PerUserItem was set to "0", I changed it to "1", saved the registry, and did a soft reboot. This fixed the problem. Now I can download and retain the offline content, I have no unresolved favorites, and it no longer compains that I am not connected when loading offline content. By the way, I deleted Memmaid just before I did this and I will be hesitant to use it again. I hope this helps others out there. Craig

I found the trick! (at least in my situation). As I've said in another forum. I was able to use the offline website content effectivly when i was running win 98se on my desktop w/ as 3.8 (the latest supported by win98se). XP w/ as 4.1 just doesn't cut it. So i uninstalled as 4.1 and installed as 3.8 and set up all of my offline content (including 1-2 links deep material) and now I'm happily browsing sync offline content multiple links deep on 5-10 different sites on my PDA!Windows XP, AS 3.8, Mobile 2003 -- Try it and see how it works for you (don't know what they messed up in AS 4.1) my email is allenonline2 (at) coxville (dot) com
