Email via VPN

My company won't support POP3, we do have web access and I use VPN from my laptop when working out of town. Is there anything I can do with my Axim via VPN to retrieve my emails? It would be so much easier to get my emails when I am on the road and connected via WIFI. The web access is tough to view. Thanks.

I have the same problem. My company uses Outlook and I can access it via VPN on my laptop when I'm on the road, however, I'm told by our IT Dept that this won't work with PDA's. So... I set up a rule in Outlook (Tools > Rules Wizzard) to forward all incoming email to my personal POP3 email account. Now I get all my work related email on my personal email account on my X50. Hope that helps!

It depends on what version of Exchange your IT department has. Exchange 2003 has built in server sync which enables your pda to sync directly with the server just like your laptop does when you vpn.

My company does have Exchange 2003. Is there a site that I can go to walk me through the PDA connection process?

Also note that I have had good luck using this servers "Outlook Mobile Access" feature to view my company email on me PDA. It works well but I think a snyc with the mail client on the PDA would be better.

Your IT shop will need to turn this feature on for this to work. Check out this site for all the information you should need.

In a similar issue...

I am trying to connect to my work PC via VPN (which I do all the time on my home PC) -- but I want to use active sync with my PDA; it seems that it would be possible because ActiveSync allows for LAN connection. Has anyone tried that before?

...I am still having issues with the VPN connection on the PDA itself, so I haven't even begun to test this yet.
