Pocket Outlook Inbox - Emails disappear
Dear all,

please allow me to refer to the same question as kaangun did before (http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=67598).

I am confused, because my inbox on my Pocket PC does not keep
previously downloaded emails. You can assume that my POP3 access is set up properly because I can receive and send emails in general.

I download (only new) emails and leave a copy in my inbox on the Gmail server. Those emails appear in my Pocket Outlook Inbox but whether I read them or not, they will disappear, when I synchronize them next time.

What can I do apart from moving emails into another folder?

P.S.: My colleagues from the IT department usually say: "Is it a Microsoft product? Yeah? The it isn't a bug, it is a feature"...

Is this happening after you go to Gmail and look at it in your Gmail Inbox? The PPC's Inbox synchronizes with the server, so if the email is no longer a 'New' email on the server (i.e. it's been downloaded into your desktop email client or into Gmails Inbox) it's no longer on the server as a new, unread email...and therefore gets removed from your Axim.

You could change the Axim's Inbox so that it doesn't look for just 'New' emails, but then it will probably sync ALL the emails. And if you delete an email in Inbox, when you sync/access your email again it will likely delete it from the server. This behaviour can be set in Options/Preferences in Inbox.

Hi Chris,

this happens to me even if I do not check the gmail-account online. I tried it out in a kind of laboratory condition. I sent one email, downloaded it to my X50v, send a second one, downloaded the email, the first disappeared and so on. I tried several scenarios: with opening the email - without opening etc. What confuses me is that the "normal" outlook has never shown this problem, so I assume it is a peculiarity of Pocket Outlook.

When I read your suggestion, I immediately fetched for my PDA and tried to change the settings. However, I could not find anything like this in my Axim. This type of setting is only available on the Gmail site. However, if you set it on "all" emails, it caused this strange error message, which says something like "Message cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your e-mail account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again." So to avoid this error message, I changed the setting to only download new emails according to other posting in thise forum.

But as I just found out, there are others experiencing the same problem http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...tion+ problem

Check ActiveSync
There are some settings that have to be set via ActiveSync (downloading full message, attachments, etc.)

Thanks for the hint, RobertCF!

However, I could not find any settings for POP3-accounts in ActiveSync. I thought, that the POP3 settings are only set on the device. Where do I find those in ActiveSync?

There are, of course, various setting possibilities for the Outlook Inbox, which I am aware of. With my Outlook emails, those that I receive in office, I have not had any problems at all. They all appear on my Axim as I want it (all emails from the past 30 days, including all attachment for selected folders...). I just struggle with the POP3-emails from Gmail.
