Delete/Remove "recent programs" ???

I did a search on this, and came up with thread from 2 months ago. I figured I would start a new one to see if anyone has figured this out yet.

I want to get rid of the "recent programs" from my Start Menu, but can't seem to figure out a way. It's annoying and I really could care less what I recently used.
In fact I would rather just create a set of folders right off the start menu organizing that way.

Anyone know how to do this to the "recent programs"??

Thanks,
Josh

There are options...

There are ways to clean this out. I found the following link to a program in an earlier thread, posted by DoDoubleGeo:

http://members.rpa.net/~pjmarren/recPrgsCleaner.html

However, this software will require a soft reset once ran to finish clearing out the items (it cleans the items in the registry and to reload the registry, you have to do a soft reset)

Personally, I think it is a bit too much trouble to worry about.

If you would like more control over the Start menu, try Wisbar Advance, or some freeware applications will also let you modify the start menu (look at http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com or elsewhere).

Hopefully that helps!

Best of luck!

I've found if I manually cram the start menu with shortcuts, this will shrink down the most recently used programs area-I keep only one in case I have to quickly get out and back in. I use File Commander to create the extra shortcuts (but I suppose any other file utility will work). You can by-pass the 7 program limit imposed by the Start\Settings\Menus\ system application.

By the way the folder you want to place the shortcuts into is: \Windows\Start Menu\

Another thing I've done is to create some folder in this area so I can group programs together, for example, I have a GAMES folder, and a NOTES folder.

Hope this helps... :approve:

Tweaks2K2 has a feature that clear the recent programs. Of course, it also involves a soft reset. You can also clear the "soft reset" counter as well with Tweaks2K2.
