Missing wireless bar graph on X30
We purchased 9 of the Axim 30's and 1 of them has a problem with the WiFi icon...

Basically, the WiFi bar graph is no longer showing in the bottom right corner.

The WiFi works via the hardware button, but no graph shows up and I cannot seem to get it back!

I am within range of a solid WiFi connection that all nine devices detect, and all but one show the bar graph...

The user of this device does "play" alot with the settings so I am thinking it may just be an option somewhere....but where?

I posted in the Mobile 2003 forum because I think this is more of an issue with the OS than with the WiFi.

Thanks!

I just played around with it a little and discovered that graph will disappear if you exit the Dell WLAN Utility from the Exit option in its Tools menu. The connection may still be active, but the graph will be gone. Sounds exactly like what you're describing.

Fixing it is as simple as opening the utility again. Disabling/re-Enabling Wireless from the hardware button should also fix it. As should soft-resetting (but mostly because it reloads that utility during the reboot I'm sure).

If those things still don't fix it, I've got some more drastic suggestions for you that can at least determine if it is a software issue or not.

Fixing the user on the other hand... well, if you can come up with a good solution for that one, patent it, and the rest of us TS geeks will probably make you rich out of despairation

Me too
This happens to me regularly, and I'm pretty sure that it occurs whether I use the utility or not. Also, the *ONLY* way that I can recover the icon is to do a soft reset; tapping the program icon has no effect. I assumed that it was a bug in the software and came here looking for an answer...

My Axim x30 also has the missing wireless icon - I even placed the 3-d wirelessicon.exe in startup that I found on here and soft resets galore - enables and disables - no luck - wireless works fine but a month or so ago no more icon - can't relate it to anything at the time - is there a fix please~!!!!!!!>???????

I get the same thing on my X51V... I posted a thread in Wireless Connections.

Having read this thread I performed a soft reset and the icon reappeared... but this is no solution. I hate programmers who write lazy, unperdictable code.
