MSN MESSENGER SOLUTION FOR "SERVICE UNAVAILABLE"
Hey All,

I just recently bought an x30, and one of the first things I tried to do was use MSN messenger on it over the 802.11b network. I have not been able to get this to work for days....I've also seen many people listing a similar problem in other forums on the web, including dell's site....Finally tonight, at 2:30am after messing with it all night I found a post somewhere about making sure the date is correct....

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS SET THE DATE AND TIME TO THE CURRENT SETTINGS.

My date was off by a year, and setting the date was the last thing I was worried about. Once the date was set, messenger worked! Hope this helps,

-Ryan

I was gonna say...
....they needed to make sure they had the updated client from Microsoft. And how on earth did you folks get your date off a whole year? That tells me your desktops must be off, too, since the PocketPC will adjust its time to the host workstation during sync. And how would you possible get appointments correct? Yikes!

Well I'm new to the Axim club, and at the time I had the problem, had not setup the active sync yet. I was so obsessed with getting messenger to work with it, I never got around to doing a sync or even looking at the clock.

PS-It is a bug however.....If you put your clock off more than a few months you cannot connect.

I've heard a ton of different ways people got messenger to work, and I tried them all, but nothing worked. After a long time what finally got mine working was this... I logged onto messenger on my computer first, then i logged onto it on my X30, kicking myself off of my desktop, and ever since then it's worked fine. Don't ask me why this worked for me because honestly I couldn't tell you. Maybe something just clicked inside my rounter, I don't know. But if nothing else works, try that. Hope that helps someone out there who's tried everything like me.

Just received my X50V, had the same problem. Duhhhhhh, it was the date. Activesync 3.8 synced the time but not the date though. Thanks for the tip, Messenger now connects.
